la petite vache: Hester Street Fair
http://korovka.blogspot.com/2011/08/hester-street-fair.html
Oui oui, le fromage! Wednesday, August 31, 2011. One of my friends has a stand at the Hester Street Fair for her baked goods company. Which features cookies and cupcakes with Asian-inspired flavors (think green tea, jasmine, black sugar). On her first day selling, JP and I paid a visit to say hi and to fill ourselves with everything the fair has to offer. He didn't really know that we were eating there until we got there and I asked him to get in line for tacos at the Brooklyn Taco Company. Re-discoverin...

la petite vache: Hurricane cooking
http://korovka.blogspot.com/2011/09/hurricane-cooking.html
Oui oui, le fromage! Wednesday, September 07, 2011. We were holed up in our apartment for most of the Hurricane Irene weekend, starting at around 4pm Saturday though Monday morning. Friday night we went out for some wine and small plates at Bar Veloce. But not before I finished making some high-protein savory muffins. They have cottage cheese, eggs, almond meal, the slow roasted tomatoes I made a little while back, basil and cheese. No butter or oil! And you can use low fat cottage cheese! Squirrels....

la petite vache: October 2010
http://korovka.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Oui oui, le fromage! Thursday, October 28, 2010. Revisiting Cafe des Musees on my birthday. And to celebrate my old-ness, I rounded up a bunch of friends who were free on a Sunday night, booked a table at Cafe des Musees. Conveniently located a few blocks from my apartment and conveniently delicious most of the time) and had a turbot with fettucine-style strips of zucchini and carrots, on a bed of a parsley-butter sauce. Kinda like what I had last time. And the birthday dessert was a dacquoise. Sea bass ...

http://korovka.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Oui oui, le fromage! Sunday, May 22, 2011. Ricotta at A Voce. I had lunch with Mama at A Voce. Where we saw Missy Robbins. Last time I was there, Andrew Carmellini was still the chef. For the appetizer, we ordered the cows milk ricotta. With extra virgin olive oil, mint, chilies and thyme. It's so visually appealing, but unfortunately could've used a bit of salt. Thursday, May 19, 2011. Cheese tapioca flour = deliciousness. Adapted from food.com. 2 cups tapioca flour. 1 1/2 cups Parmesan cheese*. Make ba...

la petite vache: Smorgasburg
http://korovka.blogspot.com/2011/08/smorgasburg.html
Oui oui, le fromage! Saturday, August 27, 2011. JP and I finally ventured over to Smorgasburg. The food-centric offshoot of the Brooklyn Flee, just one stop into Brooklyn on the L (if it was more, we might not have made it over.). It was the perfect day with the breeze from the water providing some welcome respite from the blazing sun. My plan? We started with a pork cemita. It's a sandwich originating in Puebla, Mexico. It's kinda like a regional version of a torta. We tried the watermelon one which was...

Lost in a time warp: Raúl Di Blasio - Santa Fe
http://lostinatimewarp.blogspot.com/2011/05/raul-di-blasio-santa-fe.html
Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Raúl Di Blasio - Santa Fe. Santa Fe from the album Barroco. I've been trying to determine if he or Ottmar Liebert wrote this track and it seems Ottmar Liebert did and published it on the Nouveau Flamenco album of 1990. This is the more sweeping, Barry White-like version. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. NYC food guy - Lawrence Weidman. Are You Being Served. Eddie Baez club mix.
