Among the obstacles to creation that Twyla Tharp lists in her book The Creative Habit. But work politics require that an individual takes responsibility and initiative for her environment. In the case of RISD’s John Maeda, however, the individual began to outshine the collective, to his detriment. Academe is a notoriously traditional institutional structure that rewards...

It has been just a year since my life was changed by a little tiny jar of sourdough starter gifted to me by the legendary Andrea Crawford of Kentor Canyon Farms. Giant bowls of dough framed by the gorgeous room. Ingredients for things to come. Andrea Goddess of Domesticity. Bowls of local ingredients. Gorgeous soup whipped up for luncheon. Two rounds of bread perfectly baked.

Spirited Urban Farmer talking about Food, Fashion, Farming and Follies. Thursday, January 27, 2011. The results of combining different vegetables has yielded a delicious and biodiverse garden. The bountiful rain we were subjected to in southern California these past months has shifted our garden to spring. We now reap the benefits. Hungry? Come on over and harvest some for yourself. Spirited Urban Farmer talking about Food, Fashion, Farming and Follies. Wednesday, October 16, 2013. My Eames La Chaise Chair- finally close enough to sit in. Spirited Urban Farmer talking about Food, Fashion, Farming and Follies. Sunday, January 15, 2012. A Year In A Garden. A YEAR ON IVARENE FARMS. A look back at last years bountiful supply of vegetables that never stopped giving made me anxious for another productive year. This year doesn't look quite the same. Not enough rain, too much sun and dry conditions. I haven't given up hope, I have these pictures to inspire me. Arugula and baby lettuce. Broccolini, Scallions, and Endive. The Beds in Bloom.
