I have always had a passion for the question 'What is the best engine design between the gas turbine and the piston engine?' My idea came from thinking about the possibility of powering helicopter blades with thrust from the rotor tips. I then downsized that concept into aircraft blades, having a rim with stator surfaces that the thrust would push against, and then downsized again into an internal combustion engine.
