Lavender & honey ice cream | The Food Fly
https://foodfly.wordpress.com/2011/06/10/lavender-honey-ice-cream
Just another WordPress.com site. Asparagus and Lemon Carbonara. Lavender and honey ice cream. June 10, 2011. There’s flowers everywhere in our garden at the moment, the bright magenta rose flowers can be seen from the alley and hints at what’s inside. A small pot of lavender is in bloom, giving enough flowers for an alternative ice cream and one that hopefully will remain long enough for a flower ice cream sundae. 6 heads lavender flowers. Just another WordPress.com site. Lavender and honey ice cream. Avocado on sourdough snack. June 17, 2011. Twitter really is a marvellous thing. My visit to VOC. Was off the back of a tweet by fellow food lover @chocoralie. Without Twitter I’d have not been able to get a table reservation sorted at lunchtime today for a party of 15 the same evening. The Albert, Kingston Hill | The Food Fly

Just another WordPress.com site. A Fallow Deer emerges. The Albert, Kingston Hill. June 22, 2013. The Albert had a freshen up some time ago now, although I couldn’t tell you when. Before I noticed the signs of renovation, pale pastel paint on the Victorian brickwork, I’d always assumed it was average after work pub for hospital staff that was a bit dire. Or would it be a pâté made from the first three ingredients? It turned out to be a pâté made from all the ingredients which was a little too heavy on th...

Just another WordPress.com site. The Angler’s Sunday Roast. The Albert, Kingston Hill. A Fallow Deer emerges. June 18, 2013. The fallow deer (. Is commonly seen in The Royal Parks in their preferred habit of mixed woodland and open grassland. We were alerted to an unusual fallow deer emerging on Teddington High Street earlier this month via Twitter. Did it step out gingerly? Blinking with big brown doe eyes? This particular Fallow Deer emerged with a big yelp of Tally Ho and Pip! When my brother and fami...

Just another WordPress.com site. Avocado on sourdough snack. The Angler’s Sunday Roast. June 16, 2013. I suppose it’s not the kind of thing that any food lover wants to have happen, but severe ulcerative colitis seems to just happen according to the gastroenterologist. He says maybe there’s a genetic component to it, but it’s not terribly well understood. Basil and lemon chickpeas with smoked mackerel is one of the nicest dishes I’ve eaten recently. I want the recipe! The chick peas were roughly mashed w...

Just another WordPress.com site. A Fallow Deer emerges. The Angler’s Sunday Roast. June 17, 2013. On the drive down to Brighton as a young lad there was a pub that had a hoary oak fibreglass tree. One with a face and a slide as the tongue, and maybe a swing somewhere. I was always desperate to stop there. That tree, a pack of salt and vinegar crisps and half a Coke was heaven. You don’t find many pubs like that in urban areas for obvious space reasons. It’s an impressive roast to behold. A larg...I nibbl...

Avocado on sourdough snack | The Food Fly
https://foodfly.wordpress.com/2012/05/16/avocado-on-sourdough-snack
Just another WordPress.com site. Avocado on sourdough snack. May 16, 2012. I just got back from my sister’s first stand up comedy gig having only had 2 amazing scotch eggs from The Prince Albert in Brighton. It was 23:30, I needed a quick snack so toasted some sourdough, mushed half an avocado, a squeeze of lime and shake of cayenne pepper into the top. I wanted to write home about it, and this seemed a good way of doing it. Responses to “Avocado on sourdough snack”. Feed for this Entry. Stay at Stove Dad.

Random musing on space and place. And gardening. And eating and drinking things. Slash and burn (and snooze) ». March 26, 2011. It is indeed official. We have an asparagus bed. A long thin strip near the rhubarb and blueberries. Featuring Pacific Purple, Connovers Colossal and Gijnlim. The crowns are weird looking things. Quite alien. We wont be eating the benefits for a year or two but it will be worth the wait. . Posted at 10:29 PM in Asparagus. The comments to this entry are closed.

Reflections - sense of place

Random musing on space and place. And gardening. And eating and drinking things. Laquo; Snowy winter. Dig it ». January 10, 2011. At the end of 2009 moving to HB was still contemplation. I seem to remember posting. Some rather grand visions for what I hoped 2010 might hold. So what does the year look like with the benefit of hindsight rather than foresight? Well pretty good really. . Admittedly lots of things remain on the to do list. Oh and asparagus, blueberries, globe artichokes, another row of apple ...
