Musings of the Puppet Lady

Friday, 17 July 2015. It's been quite a while since my last puppety update. Back in April, when I had just started puppet no 26. I have now finished 70 puppets, so here are some pictures of my progress since then. I am knitting them in sets of 5 as it is easy to keep count of them. It is also a good number for using up, say, a particular colour or type of wool for that set without becoming tired it! Again, these are quite large puppets, knitted on 5 mm needles. I made numbers 46 - 50 using a combination ...

Musings of the Puppet Lady: Puppet news

http://puppetystuff.blogspot.com/2015/04/puppet-news.html

Walking the Thames Path. Thursday, 2 April 2015. It may seem that my puppets have been neglected of late, and indeed, Frederick. Has taken over quite a bit for the moment. Frederick the Literate is a cross-stitch piece that I am working on. Being worked on black material I can only work on him in daylight hours, so my evenings are still spent knitting puppets which have been slowly but surely stacking up. Here is the first one, and this is number 26 of this year's puppets. 2 April 2015 at 19:54. 4 April ...

Musings of the Puppet Lady: Mickey Mouse Puppet Knitting Pattern

http://puppetystuff.blogspot.com/2010/10/mickey-mouse-puppet-knitting-pattern.html

Walking the Thames Path. Friday, 29 October 2010. Mickey Mouse Puppet Knitting Pattern. Here is my pattern for Mickey Mouse, which I showed you a while ago. He seemed quite popular at the time so I decided to share the pattern with you. As it's a while since I made him, I couldn't quite remember how I did it, so I've made Mickey #2 to check the pattern! You've just got time to make one to put in your shoebox. 1 pair size 4.5 mm (UK 7/US 7) and/or circular or double pointed needles (same size). Rejoin bla...

Musings of the Puppet Lady: Shoebox Craft Group

http://puppetystuff.blogspot.com/2013/03/shoebox-craft-group.html

Walking the Thames Path. Wednesday, 20 March 2013. At our latest meeting of our Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Craft Group, we were given a new idea for making a creative gift out of soap and flannels. This was thanks to Sue, one of our members. The soap and flannel are made into a neat little 'handbag', with a ribbon as the handle. Inside is a bar of soap. The bag is made using a piece of stiff paper or card, cut in a slightly elongated hexagon, as shown above. 20 March 2013 at 15:39. I can see this ...

Musings of the Puppet Lady: Puppet Archive

http://puppetystuff.blogspot.com/p/puppet-archive_03.html

Walking the Thames Path. 3 October 2013 at 08:56. The pictures look wonderful! I was wondering what type of yarn you used for the clown hair - if you remember the name of it, it would help me out a lot. I hope to do some for Operation Xmas Child. 3 October 2013 at 13:46. I dont know the name of the yarn I use for the hair, but any eyelash yarn would be suitable, like Sirdar Funky Fox or Funky Fur. Most of the yarn I use are oddments that I buy from charity shops, and dont have identifying bands! Motherho...

Stitching in the Kitchen: Forest of Dean

http://stitchinginthekitchen.blogspot.com/2010/10/forest-of-dean.html

Thursday, 28 October 2010. We got back yesterday from a few days in the Forest of Dean. It is a beautiful part of the country, lots of trees (obviously, clue in the name ) and rolling hills. We stopped off first in the small town of Coleford. It's not a very pretty place, so no pictures but we needed some lunch and as the saying goes "any port in a storm". After lunch we headed of to a local arboretum. As we headed for this lake. But I'll tell you about that tomorrow. I shall look forward to your post on...

Stitching in the Kitchen: Nothing Exciting.

http://stitchinginthekitchen.blogspot.com/2010/11/nothing-exciting.html

Sunday, 28 November 2010. As nothing exciting has been happening here apart from the usual Christmas preparations and as you are all doing the same thing, I didn't think you'd want to read about mine. So I decided to take you on a tour of my local town. The town is split into two parts old and new, I'll tell you about the old one today and the new one next time. Not a very good picture but it was through a dirty window and you don't see this sort of thing very often. It has a large parish church. This is...

Stitching in the Kitchen: Family Gathering

http://stitchinginthekitchen.blogspot.com/2010/11/family-gathering.html

Sunday, 14 November 2010. This weekend the family was at home, except the youngest member as she was away for a much needed break. The reason for this gathering was the 30th birthday of eldest daughter. How did I get to have a daughter that old? She didn't want a big celebration, she just wanted the family together, along with her partner. On Friday night we sat round chatting, just enjoying being together. Oh and some alcohol was consumed! Have a good week. Sunday, 14 November 2010 at 19:14:00 GMT.

Stitching in the Kitchen: Winter Colour

http://stitchinginthekitchen.blogspot.com/2010/11/winter-colour.html

Saturday, 6 November 2010. I've been inspired by an idea in a post on Marigold Jam. Which she got from a post on silverpebble. The idea is to find colourful things to photograph throughout the winter months and so make things a bit more cheerful. So here is my contribution. The display outside the local florists. Lovely on a grey and damp day. Have a good weekend. Saturday, 6 November 2010 at 17:09:00 GMT. Its always a challenge to find colourful stuff in winter.and the light for a good photo! Lovely pho...

Stitching in the Kitchen: Happy New Year

http://stitchinginthekitchen.blogspot.com/2011/01/happy-new-year.html

Sunday, 9 January 2011. New Year was very quiet, we don't go in for celebrating it's arrival. We did watch the television coverage of the firework display in London, I think it was the best I've ever seen. We also did the usual text messaging which was surprisingly easy this year. As you will have noticed there are no photographs in this post, this is because I have a new camera (my Christmas present from my lovely husband) but the computer is sulking and it won't let me upload any photos! Look forward t...

Stitching in the Kitchen: Splash of Colour for December.

http://stitchinginthekitchen.blogspot.com/2010/12/splash-of-colour-for-december.html

Monday, 6 December 2010. Splash of Colour for December. Here is my contribution to the splash of colour started by siverpebble. I tried really hard to find something that wasn't red and Christmassy. Not sure that I could live with this myself! Despite saying I didn't want to use red I couldn't resist these. Not something I would wear myself but they were too hard to resist. Enjoy the rest of your week,. Monday, 6 December 2010 at 22:09:00 GMT. Tuesday, 7 December 2010 at 07:27:00 GMT. Im catching up with...
