B Get a good antivirus, ESET (Paid) or AVG (FREE), Microsoft security essentials will be expiring for XP if you use that antivirus. C Don’t put the computer in public, have it behind a hardware firewall. D Don’t Use Internet Explorer. Only Use Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Passwords – Password and More Passwords. Remember, organizations get hacked all the time. Having one password for all your logins is dangerous. At a minimum you should have 5 passwords: 1-High Security (banking), 2 – High (shopping), 3 – Low (forums and groups) 4 – Work and 5 – Personal Email. Never use passwords that someone could guess from you. Common gotchas: Your kids names, your pet names, your job, your hobby… Just to name a few. Oh and NEVER use a dictionary word. May 14, 2015. Office 2013 and Plugins. If you use plugins for your office suite, IE: Google App Sync, Data clean, etc, be caution with the likes of Office 2013. Microsoft is pushing a version called Click-To-Run. If you need your plugins, please check carefully with your plugin provider to ensure it will work with this version of Office, and if it doesn’t work, stick with Office 2010 for a bit. Open Letter to Hacker. I see you are trying to hack into my website from over 30 different ip address, for the last 24 hours. Normally this means you are a little more than just a script kiddie. As a IT professional, I can appreciate the attempt, but I just wanted to let you know, there is nothing in this site. No passwords, no secret apps, no customer data. Just WordPress.
