Is harvested from our home prairie near Winterset Iowa. Local ecotype non-cultivar seed is important to us and is what we have used to restore our prairies. We harvest using a "native harvest" technique, meaning our mixes are composed of what is on our fields. We offer three mixes: a Iowa CRP Mix, Remnant Mix and a Tall Grass Dry Mesic Mix. At Pure Prairie Seed, we focus on one thing; the production of high quality local genotype prairie seed. We do this by growing single species stands of prairie grasses and wildflowers whose origins are Pierce and St. Croix Counties (western Wisconsin). The nursery includes machine harvest and hand harvest plots as well as a seed processing facility. This insures that, if you order a pound of wildflower seed, you will get a full pound of viable seed.
