http://www.purlingplans.com/how-to-do-mattress-stitch
Skip to main content. How To Do Mattress Stitch. December 18, 2014. April 23, 2015. Mattress stitch is not a knitting stitch at all. It’s a way of sewing together two knitted pieces, using a darning needle (a thick sewing needle with a large eye) and a length of the same yarn that you used to knit the garment. Mattress stitch is likely the most popular way to assemble something that’s been knitted in more than one piece, because it keeps the seam flat. On the right side, it’s invisible. This is such a ni...

Friday, December 21, 2007. Here I was, sitting calmly and carefully at my desk, working away the last day of work before the holiday break like a very good little busy beaver - when I saw the most incredibly dangerous e-mail flash across my computer screen:. http://susans-pointy-sticks.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 05, 2008. Thunder. Lightening. Very very frightening! I thought that maybe last night I could set up my new nifty tripod and take some fiber and FO pictures, but alas, a major major thunderstorm came through town and instead wiped out a few roof tiles {groan, we *just* had a good dozen or so tiles replaced! Downed many branches, flooded a few roadways, and in general sent all sensible creatures scurrying inside. BLF dyed up in her ' Insect Wings. To keep this from being an almost completel...

Monday, August 20, 2007. I'm not crazy about how this yarn is working with the Monkey sock pattern. My husband says that the striping looks like spinach lasagne. This yarn is headed back to the stash. Maybe it wants to be a chevron scarf paired with a complementary dark color? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Susan's Pointy Sticks: May 2008

Wednesday, May 21, 2008. First there was fishing. Munch didn't get a hook on the end of his pole - no way no how! Instead he got a rubber worm {he calls it his "wormy"} which delighted him to no end.). A friend from daycare came along to make the afternoon more enjoyable. Then this weekend, before the 3 hour graduation ceremony that I was required to attend for work, there was fiber dyeing. I tried the oven-roasting method this time around. After everything dried, there was handpainted roving. My questio...
Beguiled: In the interest of full disclosure
http://beguiledknitter.blogspot.com/2007/07/in-interest-of-full-disclosure.html
Monday, July 30, 2007. In the interest of full disclosure. Just so we all know what we are dealing with here, this is my sock yarn stash. I pulled it out yesterday to photograph it for Ravelry. It may be that I have this delusion that I have more free time than I actually do, but I always think that I will knit mountains of socks and sweaters and purchase accordingly. I know it could be worse, but I have a small house and my stash is threating to take over. From left to right: Lisa Souza. 144 inches of i...
Beguiled: Potholders!
http://beguiledknitter.blogspot.com/2010/04/potholders.html
Wednesday, April 14, 2010. We spent Easter with my family in Michigan, and when we got back, I had these beautiful potholders waiting for me! I have to admit that I opened them before we even brought our bags in from the car. I had been waiting all week to get home so I could see what I had received. I couldn't be happier with the potholders I got in the swap, and I'm reinspired to start crocheting more potholders. I see an order of cotton classic in the near future! I haven't posted about my knitting in. A while. I'm not a very prolific knitter. Since the beginning of this year, I made a nice thick warm double layer hat for my husband.
