adventures in suburbia: Made from beer
http://adventures-in-suburbia.blogspot.com/2008/09/made-from-beer.html
Thoughts on downshifting, simplicity, sustainability, ecological footprints, organic foods, grow-your-own veges and anything else related. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. But it all has to wait until we arrive in the New England area. Presuming I can get it started within a few days of arriving, the first bottle should be ready just in time for Christmas. adventures in suburbia: Growing and going
http://adventures-in-suburbia.blogspot.com/2008/10/growing-and-going.html
Thoughts on downshifting, simplicity, sustainability, ecological footprints, organic foods, grow-your-own veges and anything else related. Wednesday, October 15, 2008. It's been a strange position to be in - having a couple of modest vegetables patches that were crying out to be filled, but also being aware that they'll be under new onwership from towards the end of next month. The broad beans have gone really well. We've had two good harvests off them and there is at least one more not too far away.

adventures in suburbia: August 2008

Thoughts on downshifting, simplicity, sustainability, ecological footprints, organic foods, grow-your-own veges and anything else related. Wednesday, August 27, 2008. There's still a lot of sorting to be done, but we'll get to that in the next month or two. The less we have to pack, move, unpack for 6 months, repack, move again and unpack again the better. Friday, August 08, 2008. I've consulted a few experts in the process - Peter Cundall, Lyn Bagnall and Jeff Hodges in their books or from websites quot...

Life on the Land: July 2007
http://myhomeinthecountry.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Life on the Land. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm" Ralph Waldo Emerson. Sunday, July 29, 2007. Undercliff falls" near the property - bad picture, nice spot. While checking the fences I noticed that big branches had fallen down and taken part of the fence with it in a couple of places - more work to put on the list. The site is getting prepared for the concrete, that hopefully will be poured next week. It does become a lot of holes, as it is three fairly big buildings. There are so many...

Life on the Land: December 2007

Life on the Land. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm" Ralph Waldo Emerson. Sunday, December 16, 2007. A sea of field peas. Using local grass in our gabions to control the flow of water next to the driveway. Getting help from the bigger artillery to make our swale a bit bigger. We had a farm track collapsing because of all the rain, more work to put on the list. Remains of better days. Not on our land, we just went for a walk in the neighborhood. Some shots of everyday life. A lot of trees.

Life on the Land. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm" Ralph Waldo Emerson. Tuesday, July 22, 2008. We use some of the silt and topsoil from the dam to create landscaping around the house site. The little red trailer that could. When the dam was built they just flooded a large section of land, so there are lots to dig out. Turf that has been submerged for 15 years or so. Our new stone wall curving around the house. Inverters, regulators, etc. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Our space on Earth.

Life on the Land: October 2007

Life on the Land. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm" Ralph Waldo Emerson. Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Chooks, steel and garden stuff. Our four newly arrived chooks - nice looking birds from the sunshine coast. Yeap, that's a chicken tractor. Putting a fence around the veggie garden, you do have to dig down the fence because of our friends the rabbits. Tanya's herb spiral of her own design. There are many walkways in the garden - which means a lot of effort to make them work properly.
