BIG Technology in LITTLE Hands. Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Internet Safety - Creating a Safe Screen Name. We must start young teaching kids how to be safe online. Children are starting to use the Internet at a younger age to play games. Many of these games require that the parent set up a screen name for their child. Parents will often use their child’s name and simple words that kids can remember and spell when they set up their child's screen name. Not a good idea! Posted by Julia Patterson. Julia resigned...

BIG Technology in LITTLE Hands. Sunday, May 20, 2012. Is Your Child At Risk? No not my child. We live in a nice house in a great neighborhood. My kids go to "good" schools and get good grades. They have all the latest gadgets. They know how to use my laptop, smart phone to access the latest apps, play video games and they have figured it out all by themselves. The report also went on to say that few of the children ever reported the incidents to authorities or even to their parents. The biggest surpr...

BIG Technology in LITTLE Hands. Thursday, April 4, 2013. Your 3 year old wants to use your computer - What's a mom to do! You are working on your laptop and your 2.5 year old is poking at you and wants your computer. You decide it’s time to show her on one of those kid friendly sites your friends have been telling you about. As most parents your immediate response is to yell, “NO” and take the computer away from the child. What’s a Mother to do? Of course your little one will want to use a computer.

BIG Technology in LITTLE Hands: December 2010
http://bigtechinlittlehands.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
BIG Technology in LITTLE Hands. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Parents often ask me how to limit their child's time on the computer. They usually wish to avoid "tech tantrums"- frustration and meltdowns- when they tell their child, "Time's up! One of the most important things I stress to them is to fully understand what their child is trying to achieve, whether it is on a website, software, video game, or app. Is he or she creating something? Or trying to beat levels of a game? Attempting to finish a puzzle?

http://bigtechinlittlehands.blogspot.com/2012/08/teach-our-kids-to-think.html
BIG Technology in LITTLE Hands. Monday, August 6, 2012. Teach our Kids to Think. I heard that Suri Cruise. Will be attending a private school that costs about. 40,000 a year. It made me stop to wonder about my own grandkids and other children: Will they be able to compete with kids whose parents who spend this much money on their child's school? Then I realized, it was always that way. Most of us are not in this league - so what can the rest of us do? Teach our kids to THINK! This is so empowering. Be sp...

BIG Technology in LITTLE Hands. Friday, April 20, 2012. Tear Down the Walls. Imagine a School without Walls. Today I hear the same thing that was said when we returned to our isolated classrooms in the early 70’s. We need to get back to basics. Our schools are failing. Kids aren’t learning. But today it is so different. Huge changes to education are possible. Without physically taking down walls- so kids can learn at their own pace. Technology is not going away, and it isn’t a fad! I am OK with them disc...
