Dialann - an t-seabhag: scottish_gaelic

Dialann - an t-seabhag. A' mhadain seo fhad 's a bha mi a' fosgladh an taigh a thòisich an là, chì mi seabhag (a hawk). Chan i seabhag earbaill-ruadh (red-tail hawk) a bh' innte, bha an t-earball oirre breac, geal is dubh. Bha an t-seabhag ga ruith le buidheann feannagan (crows), dhà no trì no ceithir. Tha buidheann feannagan "a murder of crows" anns an Beùrla, a bhiodh trì feannagan "a murder of crows" fhathast? Chan eil fhios 'am. Feumaidh mi tuilleadh cofaidh.). Post a new comment. Who Speaks It? How Did You Learn?: scottish_gaelic
http://scottish-gaelic.livejournal.com/3156.html
How Did You Learn? I joined this group a while ago, and have never seen any activity. I'm curious, how many members speak or read Scottish Gaelic at this time? Or are you, like me, just hoping to learn? Right now, I'm tackling Russian (because I'm living in Moscow, its pretty important to focus on that language first). I may also begin brushing up my neglected French skills soon. However, I really want to learn Gaelic. I suppose I'm drawn to it because I have Scottish ancestry. Post a new comment.

Sgeulachd - Cailleach nan Cnò agus Tàillear nan Clàr: scottish_gaelic

Sgeulachd - Cailleach nan Cnò agus Tàillear nan Clàr. Seo an stòiridh tràidiseanta Cailleach nan Cnò agus Tàillear nan Clàr. Tha seanfhacal ann ag ràdh "Thig an t-olc ri ' iomradh", a bheil sibh eòlach air? Air sgàth sin, fhuair luchd-buidseachd far-ainm. Cha do dh'iarr duine sam bith a thoirt olc orra-san fhèin leis canntainn an t-ainm de cuideigin olc. O chionn iomadh bliadhna bha cailleach a' fuireach ann an gleann air a' Ghàidhealtachd. Bha na daoine dhen bheachd gun robh i olc. Bha Tàillear nan Clàr...

Sneeze: scottish_gaelic

Divinity, death, desire (. Divinity, death, desire. I'm an absolute beginner at Gaidhlig and I'm trying to find words and phrases that I can just slip into my daily routine to get me used to the sounds etc of the language. Anyway, I'm having trouble finding a suitable phrase to say when someone sneezes. Is there an equivalent of "bless you" or should I use "slainte" in the same way that German's use gesundheit? Grammar Questions: scottish_gaelic
http://scottish-gaelic.livejournal.com/4577.html
Today I have two grammatical questions. 1 We haven't discussed the plural yet though we know a few plural words. If you put them into the dative case they are not aspirated, or are they? 2 "I'm afraid" in the meaning of "I'm afraid, I can't help you" - rather being sorry than being afraid - is that still translated as "Tha eagal orm" or do you use something else? Calum Beag - An Litir Bheag # 102 -104: scottish_gaelic

Calum Beag - An Litir Bheag # 102 -104. An robh cuideigin eile a' leughadh An Litir Bheag na trì seachdainean sa. Uill, tha mi a' smaoineachadh gu robh iad na ceithir seachdainean sa chaidh. Tha i ùr ann feasgar an-diugh. Madainn an-diugh, bha mi a' sgrìobhadh sgeulachd bhon deachadh. Tha mi a' ciallachadh gu robh mi a' sgrìobhadh fhad 's a bha mi ag eisteach gu leugadh Ruairidh MacIlleathain. A h-uile ceithir sgeulachdan mu Chalum Beag. Obh obh, sin glè chlis a bha Calum Beag! S toil leam e.

Interesting and useful resource: scottish_gaelic

Interesting and useful resource. A lot when doing work for my Scottish Gaelic degree; it's a web resource created by a professer from my university's Celtic department called "Fuaimean na Gàidhlig" (The Sounds of Gaelic) and is a pretty exhaustive phonetic analysis of the Scottish Gaelic language with sound files. Thought it might be useful and/or interesting for folk here! Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post. Post a new comment.
