Oloron Sainte Marie is a fairly large town, with 3 large churches (one being the Cathédrale Sainte Marie) and is on the pilgrimage route of St Jaques de Compostella. There are several supermarkets, bakers, restaurants, banks, etc, and a market on Friday mornings. The Office de Tourisme has a website on. Which gives more details. The Atlantic coast is about a 1 hour 30 minute drive away; the Spanish border and ski resorts are approximately 45 minutes.
