Random day trip - Adam. Oct 15th, 2006 09:56 pm. The highlight of the museum was, of course, the old subway cars on the lower level (the museum is a converted subway station and is still live and tied into the rest of the system) - I need to upload the photos of the old ads in the cars that I took, which range from hilarious ("Protect your country from the forces of International Communism! Join the Civil Defense Corps! I had dinner (mmm, yaki ika) and a beer at the izakaya. 2006-10-16 03:19 am (UTC).

Dec 29th, 2010. You never think that an album is going to be able to live up to itself. After the first minute of this record I thought to myself, "This. this can't be, like, my favorite album ever. It can't keep this up." But it does. It's billed as dance music, but it's really just good music. Perfect blend of upbeat and melancholy, of ragged and polish. If you don't like this album, we can't be friends. Four Tet - There Is Love In You. Is basically my desert island album. There Is Love In You. Schottk...

Should you cache? - dormando

02:21 am August 17th, 2008. Should you use memcached? Should you just shard mysql more? Memcached's popularity is expanding its use into some odd places. It's becoming an authoritative datastore for some large sites, and almost more importantly it's sneaking into the lowly web startup. This is causing. Using memcached does not scale your website! Entertain me, I'm playing semantics here: This thing is not for scaleout. Mostly. What memcached really. You sure can get away with a hell of a lot though!

A nontrivial amount of that is tables of contents, lists of figures, bibliography, and other boilerplate, but it turns out that it does take an awful lot of text to describe how a particular compiler works in detail. 2006-05-03 04:48 am (UTC).
