Who da fire chick? Not-so-daily bits and pieces about my art, stuff for sale, and every day epiphanies. A long slow Caturday! February 24, 2008. 8212; pyropagan @ 1:07 am. I spent quite a while lazing around this morning before I finally started taking pictures for auctions and Etsy listings today, but I did get the rabbit cage cleaned😀 Not a whole lot to talk about today, it’s been pretty much “stay home on the couch, stay warm, work on auctions” day! Of course, the set was inspired by the focal! Go ge...

Who da fire chick? Not-so-daily bits and pieces about my art, stuff for sale, and every day epiphanies. 8 wheels, 2 feet. February 21, 2008. 8212; pyropagan @ 6:29 pm. Day of the dead. Dia de los muertos. Tuesday night the school had a skate night at a local skating rink. Now, back in ‘the day’ (let’s say, ohhhhh, 20 years ago), I was one of the kids you saw racing around the middle, skating backwards around the others, dancing WHILE skating. Those days? 😀 I’ve listed it on Etsy. I’ve got beads, t...

A Torching Good Story!: Post-Show Musings
http://fourtailslampwork.blogspot.com/2009/11/post-show-musings.html
Tuesday, November 24, 2009. My friend Julia ( Art of the Firebird. And I were at the Down the Street Bead Show. The people were wonderful, as always; it is lots of fun to chat with returning customers, new ones, and of course other vendors. I'm always so thankful for the people who stop by and look, and talk, whether they buy or not! If you are on Facebook, Tara's husband John posted pictures of the show, including a picture of Tara in her bunny hat. And other lampworkers in theirs. I hunted around on th...

Thursday, June 4, 2009. Beads of Courage: Butterfly Beads. Has blogged about Robert Simmons' new take on butterfly beads using white enamel and copper leaf. Robert's beads are the top picture. He's the National Director for Bead Donations for the Beads of Courage program. He also is a wonderful person and an excellent teacher- only Robert could tell a group of lampworkers about the chemical composition of etching fluid, and its dangers (this stuff can eat down to the bone! If you do not want to use ename...

What nobody ever tells you when you begin to post your beads or other crafts online is that you are going to have to become a photographer and a Photoshop or GIMP guru as well as a crafter, business person, marketer, and other related occupations. (No, I don't know how to do all that gracefully; if I did, this blog would be published regularly instead of in fits and starts.). Here is my original picture. Not bad, but not great, either.

A Torching Good Story!: January 2009
http://fourtailslampwork.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Today I needed some more fine silver wire, so I stopped by JFF Jeweler Supply. The family that runs the store is always fun to talk with, and extremely knowledgeable. I asked Dustin about flush-cutters. Lindstroms are phenomenal, but I don't do enough wire work to justify the expense. I need something mid-range- good quality to last and to do the job well, but not so high end. Links to this post. Monday, January 26, 2009. Four Tails Lampwork at Amalgam Arts Studio Cruise. Alas,...

Saturday, February 28, 2009. Joining Your Local Guild is a Good Thing! Well, yes, you knew that! There are lots of benefits to joining your local guild in whatever craft you do. There's a lot of interesting people who want to talk about the same thing you do, and are less likely to have glazed over eyes after the first minute on the topic. You make good contacts, and usually there are resources available more easily. We finished up with pho at my favorite local Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall, Pho Truc,.

A Torching Good Story!: September 2008
http://fourtailslampwork.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2008. By Friday, I was getting pretty worried! Here in Atlanta we've had a pretty severe gasoline crunch. It hasn't been as bad as the problems in Tennessee, but it hasn't been pretty, either. People have reported waiting in lines up to forty minutes long for gas, stalking fuel tankers, and even seeing owners of small stations carrying shotguns. It was a mess by anyone's standards, and I was afraid it would mean no patrons at the show. And no matter if you make tonnes of money, mak...
