Ship's Log

August 23, 2007}. Today we had HR Orientation. I arrived about 30 minutes early to the breakfast because I left myself an hour to drive from Al Samriya to the Four Seasons. I had vague directions, but I hadn’t seen any of the landmarks before. Leaving extra time of course meant that I made the trip flawlessly, and without needing my map. I was proud. The orientation consisted of a talk on culture shock by one of the CMU business professors, and a lecture on Qatari culture by the Qatar Guest Center. T...

A French expatriate in Qatar from March 2008 to February 2009. The return to France… one last look over Qatar. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 10:30 am · Filed under Living. Almost one year has passed since my arriving to Doha, Qatar. After a 6 months’ assessment. I would like to look again over the passed year, the country, the expatriation, all the more since our return is definitive, for professional reasons. Tomorrow, we will take our plane to Paris. I have written before about the climatic conditions.

The end of our expatriation is near and we need to sell our car, bought seven and a half months ago. We have several advantages, it is in a perfect state, did not drive very much and has full options (remember, safety does rhyme with luxury. 8230;). Last December, we also had it repaired after a small bump. Done to the front bumper. The sale done and the mo...

Even if i do not live in Qatar anymore, i do keep an eye on what is going on for this country where i spent a year and for its residents. Beyond the facts and who is right and who is wrong, i am stunned to see that a country allows a single person the power to hold another person back against his will. 8211; –. Philippe Bogaert’s blog. Sunday, April 29, 2007. In an effort to update my blog more often, I risk boring you with the little details that you don't really care about. Eh, we'll see how this blog blitz goes and then maybe over the summer I'll try to find a happy medium :-). That night I had people over to drink my newly purchased booze and sit around my newly purchased patio table. Then we went downstairs to Silvia's apartment for the most ridiculous party. There are pictures but I would need permission from people to po...Anywa...

Caryl In Qatar: January 2007
http://carylindoha.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 03, 2007. I accepted this job in Qatar in February. January and February were miserable, not necessarily because I was in Mechanicsburg. But just because I realized how much I hate boredom. I am not someone who can sit around and do nothing for a day, let alone two whole months. Moving to Qatar was a life-changing experience, as I knew it would be, and as I know it will continue to be. In the grand. Those recent travels. India, Oman, and Hong. Unfortunately, that "stupid American" is a...
