Quadrivium: July 2004
http://taej.blogspot.com/2004_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 27, 2004. The Democratic National Convention kicked off last night in Boston, the familiar faces of the party heralding the coming of the two Johns. One of the speakers last night was none other than former president Jimmy Carter. He, like the Reverend Jesse Jackson, has signed off on the Kerry campaign, diligently pressing the need for new leadership. Posted by TAJ at 9:39 AM. Saturday, July 24, 2004. Here I seek to practice the lost art of optimism. Brooding never served a fine purpos...

Quadrivium: The Complete Curse of Throttling
http://taej.blogspot.com/2006/03/complete-curse-of-throttling.html
Monday, March 27, 2006. The Complete Curse of Throttling. Thanks to a process known as throttling, I’ve watched FLIGHTPLAN languish in my Netflix queue since its DVD release on January 24th. You see, until two weeks ago, we were a 3-at-a-time family. And we watched a lot of movies. Therefore, we’re automatically relegated to the back of the waiting list for the more popular titles. Quadrivium: Will I see "United 93" ?
http://taej.blogspot.com/2006/03/will-i-see-united-93.html
Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Will I see "United 93"? The folks over at Libertas. In commenting on UNITED 93. Ask the question: does anybody want to see this movie? I’ll admit I’m curious to the point of wanting to bite. However, given the inevitable unhappy ending, this movie is already a solid candidate for the watch-while-wife-is-away list. Won’t be riding the same current. However, I have been wrong before. Posted by TAJ at 10:25 AM. View my complete profile. Other Facets of Me. Fun with Dick and Jane.

Quadrivium: Harry Potter and the School Library
http://taej.blogspot.com/2006/04/harry-potter-and-school-library.html
Sunday, April 23, 2006. Harry Potter and the School Library. A small battle, merely another iteration of one long-fought war, wages in Georgia over the banning of a certain boy wizard from the school library. Whose books, it is claimed, encourage others to pursue witchcraft. Harry Potter has a new foe - a Gwinnett County parent who wants the popular boy wizard books banned from Gwinnett County school libraries. It’s easy to look at this from one side and declare with absolute conviction that the novels w...

Quadrivium: What I took away from Easter this year
http://taej.blogspot.com/2006/04/what-i-took-away-from-easter-this-year.html
Tuesday, April 18, 2006. What I took away from Easter this year. I sat in church on Easter Sunday deeply hungry for some kind of new experience. I know, that sounds a little vague, so I’ll try and elaborate over the next few paragraphs or so. In order to provide some context, it’s important to describe my state of mind last Sunday as I sat in the pew. Why, I wondered, do I feel like I’ve seen this movie? The requisite paradigm of: choir special songs prayer more songs sermon. Yeah, I know, change is diff...

Quadrivium: Star Trek is near death
http://taej.blogspot.com/2006/03/star-trek-is-near-death.html
Monday, March 27, 2006. Star Trek is near death. And the fans are starting to warm up to the fact. In the span of four decades, five television incarnations and countless motion pictures, the 23rd-century crew of the Starship Enterprise and the brave utopians of the United Federation of Planets have boldly gone where no one has gone before. But now, with the franchise seemingly gone and no new Star Trek. Posted by TAJ at 1:27 PM. View my complete profile. Other Facets of Me. Fun with Dick and Jane. All t...

Quadrivium: November 2004
http://taej.blogspot.com/2004_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 19, 2004. Some random thoughts this morning before I get down to business. From Gene Edward Veith at World Magazine:. The prize for the most unintentionally humorous reason given by a liberal for why President Bush defeated John Kerry in a contest with many entries has to go to Alan Woods, an Ohio State drama professor quoted in the Chicago Tribune: "We are now reaping, in election results, the consequences of the colossal reductions in art education.". In other obscure news, this week m...

Quadrivium: Interesting...
http://taej.blogspot.com/2006/04/interesting.html
Tuesday, April 04, 2006. An email I received today states that, for the first and only time in the history of all humanity, this Wednesday at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00am, the time and date will read:. Unless, of course, you don’t read time like the military in that case, you can potentially experience this event twice. Expect this to make an appearance on this week’s episode of Lost. Quadrivium: Ozonated
http://taej.blogspot.com/2006/04/ozonated.html
Wednesday, April 12, 2006. I was sitting at my desk today, zoned out from writing, and vaguely scanning through the short testimonial printed on the side of my Sam’s Choice water bottle, when I noticed the following:. Our Purified Drinking Water has been triple filtered and ozonated to offer you the consistent quality of the freshest, sodium free water. So, I naturally googled. And provided the following statement. Ozone is widely used in Europe for purifying drinking water and swimming pools. Ozone ...
