Unwavering Bands of Light: Staying awake to God
http://unwaveringbandsoflight.blogspot.com/2006/05/staying-awake-to-god.html
Unwavering Bands of Light. Meditations on Quakerism, Christianity, and how we manifest our divinity as God's children. Staying awake to God. I am relatively new to the Bible, so it is easy to catch my attention with a good bit of scripture that I've never heard before. You can almost see my ears perk up and my tail start wagging. "Ooh, something smells good over there.". So it was with the first article in the newest Friends Journal. At that point, I started giggling. In meeting for worship. I know f...

Unwavering Bands of Light: Suspenders, stomachaches, and the articulation of leadings

Unwavering Bands of Light. Meditations on Quakerism, Christianity, and how we manifest our divinity as God's children. Suspenders, stomachaches, and the articulation of leadings. About a month ago, I started giving away clothing by the bag-load. A few days ago, I cut the collars off of three solid-color, long sleeve shirts. Whenever I find a ride to my local Goodwill, I'm buying suspenders and switching from jeans to black pants. Shouldn't the awareness of God come from inside, not outside? I don't neces...

Unwavering Bands of Light. Meditations on Quakerism, Christianity, and how we manifest our divinity as God's children. Discernment and growth as a child of the meeting. All of these things are further complicated by the fact that I am not currently attending my monthly meeting, as I'm away at college, and my meeting is not the body of Friends that knows me best (longest, but not deepest). Nonetheless, I remain very close to my home meeting, and identify it as one of my primary spiritual communities.

Unwavering Bands of Light: "Oh, my beautiful and marvelous God. What are you doing with me?"
http://unwaveringbandsoflight.blogspot.com/2006/07/oh-my-beautiful-and-marvelous-god-what.html
Unwavering Bands of Light. Meditations on Quakerism, Christianity, and how we manifest our divinity as God's children. Oh, my beautiful and marvelous God. What are you doing with me? Excerpts from my travel notebook:. It is such an unspeakably beautiful moment. The train is carrying me through Montana. The sun just set. I can see the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. There are no trees, so the sky sweeps across from one edge of the horizon to another. That is the power we must be prepared...

Unwavering Bands of Light: Transience and monthly meeting community
http://unwaveringbandsoflight.blogspot.com/2006/05/transience-and-monthly-meeting.html
Unwavering Bands of Light. Meditations on Quakerism, Christianity, and how we manifest our divinity as God's children. Transience and monthly meeting community. I wandered in this morning just as most Friends were entering the worship room. I noticed how many people greeted me with a smile, knew my name, shook my hand. I didn't think I knew people there very well. I didn't think people there really knew me. I have much to be grateful for. Posted by Kody Gabriel at 2:56 PM. Your post makes me wonder if co...

Unwavering Bands of Light: Here I Am, Lord
http://unwaveringbandsoflight.blogspot.com/2006/04/here-i-am-lord.html
Unwavering Bands of Light. Meditations on Quakerism, Christianity, and how we manifest our divinity as God's children. Here I Am, Lord. I am fresh from the annual gathering of Southeastern Yearly Meeting, held in Leesburg, Florida. My heart is full, my spirit is open, and my head is full of ideas and reactions to the five days I spent there. A good time, I think, to start a Quaker blog. Here I am, Lord, ready to speak what I am given. Posted by Kody Gabriel at 1:50 PM. Also: Let us all be ready to listen...
