The Quarter-Acre Adventure

Week by Week Photo Project. Wednesday, January 21, 2015. The State of the Quarter-Acre. Thank you all for checking in on us as we brought two babies home, for watching them grow week by week, for being interested in what we grew and built and painted and thought. Since we know most of you outside the blogosphere, we'll still be around. Until we see you face-to-face, just figure this is what life looks like on a daily basis, minus the picturesque backdrop and coordinating outfits. Labels: Just a Thought.

The Quarter-Acre Adventure: April 2014

http://quarteracreadventure.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Week by Week Photo Project. Monday, April 28, 2014. Just taking a moment to share some photos from our Easter weekend, which was very laid back and unscheduled. Exactly what we needed after a long and busy winter. Somehow the men ended up doing all the egg decorating. Keith is thrilled that the egg paints he used as a kid are still available. Colter said the face needed a mustache. The Easter bunny came! A few sweet treats, but mostly books and puzzles. Ears first, of course! He was so thrilled with his ...

The Quarter-Acre Adventure: September 2014

http://quarteracreadventure.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Week by Week Photo Project. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Amidst the fog of having a newborn and toddler at home, I remember thinking, "What a difference a year will make! It feels like this has been the busiest year of our lives, but it's the year our family became the family we dreamed of, and so it has been the best year. Happy birthday, Baby E. We all love you so. Apparently, it has been a busy year for Elliott as well. Thursday, September 25, 2014. So, now we are making yogurt using local milk, and i...

The Quarter-Acre Adventure: July 2014

http://quarteracreadventure.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Week by Week Photo Project. Monday, July 28, 2014. A friend recently offered us a plastic picnic tables his girls had outgrown, and we were pretty excited because we have been on the lookout for a kids table for the patio. The only downside was that it was pink. And purple. A little too girly for our little men. Ok, not quite that fast. I just didn't take them. Colter and I scrubbed everything down really well, and the following weekend Keith got to painting. When did E get so big? Labels: Keep It Cheap.

The Quarter-Acre Adventure: Elliott Each Week

http://quarteracreadventure.blogspot.com/p/elliott-each-week.html

Week by Week Photo Project. My baby is one. Unbelievable. Joined by the big C for week 51. To think that a year ago, we were just waiting on this little guy, eating pizza and Chinese to jumpstart labor. Not that any of it worked. Two of us trying to get him to lay still, and this was the best we could do. I could barely get him to sit still, forget about laying down. 48 weeks and he's so over this picture-taking thing. Absolutely, positively not staying put today. Little man on the move. And so that's wh...

The Quarter-Acre Adventure: October 2014

http://quarteracreadventure.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Week by Week Photo Project. Friday, October 31, 2014. Happy Halloween, everyone! We actually have all our celebrating in already, since our town does a downtown trick-or-treating on the Wednesday before and neighborhood trick-or-treating on Thursday. We took full advantage though, going out both nights and enjoying watching Colter soak it all up. I am not a fan of getting my hands down in that goo, and Colter wasn't so much either, but he did want to help with the carving. Ok, maybe a little unsure.

Living on Beach Street: October 2013

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Living on Beach Street. Sunday, October 20, 2013. Giant Rubber Duck and a Bike Ride. Pittsburgh has been hosting a giant rubber duck at the Point. I had been meaning to get down to see it, but as usual, other things always come up. Knowing that it would be leaving this weekend, time was of the essence. Of course, seeing the back of it Friday night added to the intrigue. Rather than trying to find parking, I decided to park and bike in. After this I decided to head for the duck! Yeah, this no little rubbe...

Living on Beach Street: Happy Birthday to Me!

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2014/10/happy-birthday-to-me.html

Living on Beach Street. Sunday, October 5, 2014. Happy Birthday to Me! Coming home for fair always has an added benefit, my birthday! I jokingly tell people I have to go home to collect my "loot". Just kidding! I do get some nice presents usually and this year was no different. The only thing different this year was my small helper who opened my presents. Wonder if I get to do this with hers? My guess, she will say, "no"! I loved all my gifts, but this year, I bought a big one for myself. Ta Da!

Living on Beach Street: September 2013

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Living on Beach Street. Wednesday, September 11, 2013. I have been busy working on a project that has consumed my time, but I'm happy to say that it is finished. However, I have to wait a few weeks to share! Ever have a day where you are in a mood? Well last night I had one. It made me quite productive though and I completed moving around some artwork on the walls. Something about taking a hammer to the wall that made my day all better! I love the dining room wall is all I can say! Kelly in the City.

Living on Beach Street: Pittsburgh Zoo

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2014/09/pittsburgh-zoo.html

Living on Beach Street. Sunday, September 21, 2014. So back in June, Susan, Mike, Blondie, and Izzybella came for a visit. It was their turn to do the driving. However, if I look at the calendar, it was also their last time probably until January due to a thing called "soccer season". Somehow, I think I might be getting the short straw! Good thing I find 3 and half hours in a car relaxing. Gotta love a good jam out session! I think she is trying to yell at the tigers! My niece is a brat! Aunt Angie: Izzy...

Living on Beach Street: January 2014

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Living on Beach Street. Thursday, January 30, 2014. January 25th = Snowstorm! I'm not exactly sure how long this has been happening, but every year, it snows on January 25th. If you are wondering how I know this, it's because it is my grandmother's birthday and I haven't made it in to visit, due to a snowstorm. This year was no exception! Mother Nature, this has been 2 years in a row now, really? But, to make me feel worse, at 10 pm my little old neighbor was outside shoveling, AGAIN! The entire time I w...

Living on Beach Street: Well played Aunt Terry!

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2014/10/well-played-aunt-terry.html

Living on Beach Street. Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Well played Aunt Terry! So what's that saying, a picture is worth a 1,000 words. Well, look at the birthday card from Aunt Terry and Uncle Tim! I was speechless when I opened it and then just started laughing! It is hanging on my refrigerator and I smile every time I see it. October 8, 2014 at 3:21 PM. Arent they Pittsburgh Tucans? October 8, 2014 at 6:25 PM. That is correct. A special breed known as Pittsburgh Tucans! October 9, 2014 at 3:43 PM.

Living on Beach Street: November 2013

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Living on Beach Street. Sunday, November 17, 2013. Oh, Hunter Rain Boots, How I Love Thee. Yes, however, that mallet has earned its own place of love. It has been very useful throughout the year and if you don't believe me, just look at all my projects. I had entered my stalker-eqse phase. The stars did align! So, I sent a bunch of text messages and bought my Hunter rain boots. I'm in love! Wednesday, November 13, 2013. The little bench lives again! Living on Beach Street: May 2014

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Living on Beach Street. Thursday, May 8, 2014. As I was trying to rush, I did take a fewictures as I have never been down that street before. There are definitely some old buildings that are fascinating. I would love to venture down there again someday. Even though I am really enjoying running, I can never see myself wanting to run 26.2 miles.EVER. Until then, I'll just be a tourist and take photos! Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Living on Beach Street: August 2013

http://livingonbeachstreet.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Living on Beach Street. Monday, August 26, 2013. So all my hard work this spring is paying off in the garden. We have had tomatoes, some lettuce, jalapeño peppers (guacamole baby! And lots of green and yellow beans. Tonight I harvested the potatoes. The tops were all dead, so it was time to dig them out. I was impressed. There were more than last year. Not only were there more, they were bigger too. Quite proud of myself! Turn on the fan that I have complained about ALL summer! Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Just had out side shutters added to the house. Only fitted to the west side of the house, the afternoons were brutal in the main living areas. The Results are even better than i expected, the house still warms but is bearable. When the shutters are down the house does become a little cave like. I wish i was this smart.
