Cathedral Door: April 2008
http://pltsblog.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
A forum for members of the PLTS community to stick it to the Church! Thursday, April 24, 2008. Of mine pointed out this article. Apparently a German Artist is looking for a volunteer to be on display while he or she dies. It seems to be causing quite a bit of controversy, but it does seem like an excellent way to help people come to terms with dying in a culture that tries to ignore death. But then again, presenting death as an art display might just desensitize people all the more. Posted by Ben Colahan.

Eurasian Hobos: January 2013
http://euasiahobos.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 24, 2013. Everyone's favorite day for Korean students looking cute is the day before our Chuseok break. Chuseok is often likened to Korean Thanksgiving. Just like last year. Dressing the kindergarteners in their Hanbok (traditional Korean garb) is adorable. One of my kindergarten classes: Woojin, Jackie, Amber, Chloe, Patrick, and Tony (Many students leave a day early so they can visit relatives for longer). Eating said rice cakes. Making Jaegi (basically traditional Korean hacky sack).

Eurasian Hobos: April 2012
http://euasiahobos.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 21, 2012. I arrived in London to find that my couchsurf hosts had not received my message confirming that I would be staying with them. Thankfully, they were fine with me staying nonetheless. They served a lovely roast to me and another couch surfer. I had spent two half weeks in London in 2006, but was at the time too cheap to pay the overpriced entrance to Westminster Abbey. I'm glad I did this time around, though to be fair to my past self, the outside is just as impressive. I had enou...

Eurasian Hobos: September 2014
http://euasiahobos.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 2, 2014. This return trip was at the invitation of Kyungrae, the man who we met at Bongamsa Temple. On Buddha's Birthday, and who became our unofficial guide as well as our generous ride. Barbara and I took him up on his offer to show us around Daegu and to go visit Haeinsa together. My first visit was by bus, so I unknowingly passed right by a pavilion that was famed as a monk philosopher's favorite meditation grounds. The river there really was quite peaceful. Dunkel in the Far East.

Eurasian Hobos: February 2014
http://euasiahobos.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 6, 2014. Buddha's Birthday at Bongamsa Temple. In 2011, Buddha's Birthday (as celebrated in Korea) fell on May 10th, a Tuesday. Our singular day off was enough time to visit Bongamsa Temple, which is only open to the public one day a year for the occasion. Barbara, Sam, and I took an exceedingly early morning bus out Mungyeon in central South Korea. The surrounding mountains were completely shrouded in mist at dawn. The guardian lions at this temple had some goofy expressions. I never ...

Eurasian Hobos: July 2012
http://euasiahobos.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Where my belongings and laptop were searched for drugs or child pornography. Oh, profiling. Good times. In her defense, I do look super sketchy with my travel beard. Once the airport security determined that I am in fact not a threat, I was able to head out into the city. That day I mostly just trudged out to the hostel and ate some Thai food. I considered signing up for one of their day trips before realizing I could just spend bus fare to get to the same places. I would be terri...

Thursday, November 6, 2014. Ben and Elana's Wedding. I have trouble thinking of my time in the US as travel blog-worthy because I have trouble thinking of it as travel. Which is silly. Anyway, After my second year in Korea, I returned for Ben and Elana's amazing wedding at Newt's Hollow, outside of Berkeley. Photos by Stacia Torborg. Eurasian Hobos: August 2014
http://euasiahobos.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 20, 2014. You may have noticed that in my Japan pictures I had a lot less hair than usual. Here's what I looked like the week before:. This picture is like a glimpse into an alternate universe where someone with my genetics grew up deep in meth lab territory:. Curiosity sated, I went for the Ra's Al Ghul look:. The fuzz came back by the end of my week in Japan. I only had one more week in Korea before jetting off to the Bay Area for Ben and Elana's beautiful whimsical wedding. I fully e...
