Ramblings: on being 17 and living away from home
http://queerrambler.blogspot.com/2012/07/on-being-17-and-living-away-from-home.html
Friday, 6 July 2012. On being 17 and living away from home. In his next (if successful) stint as PM, Cameron wants to take away housing benefit. From under 25s. He has very kindly suggested that housing benefit would not be withdrawn from vulnerable groups such as those with a destructive home life or leaving foster care. But as yet, none of this has been quantified. I had no money to buy clothes, even charity-shop clothes were often too expensive - a winter coat was a concept that didn't even exist to m...
Ramblings: Trigger warnings...
http://queerrambler.blogspot.com/2012/08/trigger-warnings.html
Wednesday, 8 August 2012. So i recently got in to an argument with someone about trigger warnings. That has been what spurred the creation of this blog and without more ado, a blog on that topic. In short, I think trigger warnings are over-used, do women (mostly, but also men) a disservice and are incorrectly named. Let me explain. I have been called to task for saying they do people a disservice, but my reasoning is this:. I see in so many places recently, we go out of our way. 8 August 2012 at 20:05.
Ramblings: Children
http://queerrambler.blogspot.com/2012/08/children.html
Friday, 10 August 2012. Don't get me wrong - I love kids. I just don't want one. I'm too selfish to have kids, and I know this, and that's ok. I'm lucky that I'm in a lesbian-identified relationship, and therefore most of the comments I get from people about kids come from a 'well it's not like you can do that anyway' point of view (seriously, that happened about a month ago). And we can afford this; it's free, so we go. It gives me a week to go 'I can do this - I can survive children' and then 25 we...
Ramblings: BDSM is not abuse (necessarily)
http://queerrambler.blogspot.com/2012/08/bdsm-is-not-abuse-necessarily.html
Friday, 24 August 2012. BDSM is not abuse (necessarily). 50 shades of grey. Yes, more. Disclaimer: This entry discusses bdsm, domestic violence and sexual abuse. Now I'm jumping on many bandwagons here, I know. But a friend earlier linked me to this: Fifty Shades book burning call by abuse charity. The speaker points out that Ana is naive, and she is, and that Christian is abusive, which I also think he is. But the text says 'beats her up and does some dreadful things to her sexually'. 50 shades of gray ...
Ramblings: Disability and self-acceptance
http://queerrambler.blogspot.com/2012/09/disability-and-self-acceptance.html
Tuesday, 11 September 2012. I don't have the language for this. Am i disabled? Do I feel disabled? I recently told someone for the first time that I was disabled. I closed the door and felt like a fraud. On good days, I feel (every time) 'maybe this is it. maybe I'm getting better! This isn't meant to come across as maudlin - I'm genuinely curious as to the thought proceses that are going on. As for being sick, I'm used to it, so in some ways, it's a lot easier than when I was newly ill.

On May 26, 2015. Hello there, haven’t updated in a while because life has been really busy with work and such. What I like about this program is the amount of value that i...
Queer Rant
A rant a day, keeps the shrinks away. On Sunday, 6 December 2009. Ne really great thing about being in East Malaysia is that people here do not meddle into other people business much, they are rather open minded and live life along each other regardless of what background the next person may have. How many shops in West Malaysia with this sign "Babi Segar! How many graveyards in West Malaysia that has Chinese and Muslim graveyard situated right next to each other? Lotsa pork on the grill! Atching Glee ma...
Neither/Nor | Everyone believes in virtue, but who is virtuous?
30/11/2014 · 17:44. Isn’t it a thing of privilege to sit down and jam buttons on your computer for an hour? Isn’t it a question of arrogance to think you have something to say that will interest others? Taking an hour to write every week forces me to reconnect with a larger view of life and the world as it moves on around me and it helps me reconnect with our common humanity, our common struggles through all of our differences. After all, there is the. Which cannot be communicated through such things.

This month, QueerReader.com quietly celebrated it’s seventh anniversary. It’s a good time to take stock. When this website was launched, there were literally LGBT bookstores from coast to coast.
