https://questionsfor.wordpress.com/2009/09/01/2-month-old-pedicure
Objects, concepts, and sometimes a person. Questions for My 2-Month Old Pedicure…. What about your origins do you think we might find surprising? I started as a $20 midweek special at a salon that didn’t even have a massage chair. Some people wouldn’t call that much of a special, but I think it says a lot about me that I haven’t totally faded. Who, or what, has been your most significant influence? Courtney Love. Maybe Mark Rothko. Has the scope of your work changed at all recently?

The Magic Word | Page 2

Newer posts →. December 2, 2013 · 6:22 pm. Recently, I have been transcribing some of my mother’s unpublished writing. More than any other topic, she wrote about her parents. Over and over, she returned to unhappy memories. Reading these essays, stories, and journal entries, I find myself weighed down by dark images from her childhood. This year, what didn’t feel right is easy to name. My mother was not here for Thanksgiving. Our mashed potatoes had no celery salt. We didn’t talk about my mom all d...

Moment #4: missy’s confession. December 16, 2013 · 8:06 pm. An interjection from my mom. After I finished that last post, I felt really uncertain. It seemed unfinished and strange. What right do I have to tell Missy’s story as if it is my own? How can I count someone else’s trauma as a defining moment in MY life? And is this project of trying to write out defining moments in my life even a worthwhile one? Does this put anything useful into the world or is it just an exercise in self-indulgence? There is ...

It’s the most wonderful time of the… dammit. Moment #4: missy’s confession →. December 14, 2013 · 10:47 am. Moment #3: the electric typewriter. 3 in a series of moments that have defined me. Inspired by a writing prompt my mom assigned in a class about writing as healing. When I was in elementary school, my mom bought an electric typewriter and installed it on the desk in her office. It was a beast trailing wires with a tiny LCD screen mounted on top. When I turned it on, it hummed expectantly. Address n...

Moment #1: that time my dad broke →. December 4, 2013 · 8:34 pm. Sifting through my mother’s papers, I found a thick folder stuffed with articles and essays about writing as a pathway to healing after trauma. Apparently, my mom once taught a course on this topic. As part of that course, she asked students to write about ten moments in their lives that helped define them. Are these the experiences that truly define us, or just the ones we remember most vividly? My aunt and my mother grew up in the same ho...

Inspired by a writing prompt my mom assigned in a class about writing as healing. Riot grrrls have a song for that. Too tall for junior high? No worries– here’s an angry anthem. No friends who are girls because you rejected them all in a misguided attempt to protect yourself from criticism? Making zines and listening ...

Moment #3: the electric typewriter. An interjection from my mom →. December 16, 2013 · 7:31 pm. Moment #4: missy’s confession. 4 in a series of moments that have defined me. Inspired by a writing prompt my mom assigned in a class about writing as healing. I can’t remember her mom. Missy had a tiny bedroom under the stairs. Her bed was a mattress on the floor. We hung out there reading magazines and painting our nails. 8221; I said. It seemed unnecessarily risky, and I was scared of getting in trouble.

Moment #2: my sister’s mixtape. Moment #3: the electric typewriter →. December 11, 2013 · 6:08 pm. It’s the most wonderful time of the… dammit. In retrospect, perhaps the tree we chose was a little large. To be fair, though, it really didn’t seem that big on the lot. Everything seems so magical in the Christmas tree lot, especially the one Matt and I chose this year. This is our first Christmas as homeowners, so we decided to go to a little locally-owned nursery right down the street. I’m unclear o...

QFM Magazine | Questions Facing Men
One of the stars of the show has undoubtedly been the sassy Donna Paulsen, secretary to Suits lead character Harvey Specter, played by Sarah Rafferty. Witty, likeable and a with self-esteem few actors could pull off, Donna has grown as the mother hen of the cast, mediating the windfall of drama between the walls of law firm Pearson Hardman. Q Hi Sarah. Suits has been a big hit in the UK, does that surprise you at all? Well I think she does come across as very arrogant! I think it grew and evolved. It...
