Tuesday, June 04, 2013. Children’s Sermon: “Help Is On the Way” The Clockwork Pastor. 8220;Help Is On the Way”. June 2, 2013 (Second Sunday of Pentecost). Do you know what’s been happening in Oklahoma? Yes, the people who live there have had to deal with tornadoes. Tornadoes are scary. I’ve been through one and they are not nice. People who had homes lost their homes and all the things that were in it. It’s very sad. But you know what? Keep reading Children’s Sermon: “Help Is On the Way”. The Thinking Pe...
The Clockwork Pastor- Musings on Faith and Autism: Repost: Love, Justice, Vengence and Grace

Tuesday, June 04, 2013. Repost: Love, Justice, Vengence and Grace. The following is a blog post from 2007. Do not even the tax-collectors do the same? 47And if you greet only your brothers and sisters,* what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Just outside of Detroit. My mother expressed rage at the sheer savagery of the crime and saw this man as the perfect candidate for the death penalty. Lake Harriet Christi...
The Clockwork Pastor- Musings on Faith and Autism: May 2013

Tuesday, May 07, 2013. A few days ago, I was at a church retreat. In response to a question on what challenges the church is facing, a woman remarked that one challenge is how people don’t really want to get involved in church. They don’t see it as a life, as much as a place where they can get their needs met and be on their way. Keep reading Discipleship or Consumerism? Links to this post. Is There a Plan B for Plan B? The Clockwork Pastor- Musings on Faith and Autism: On Holy Friendships
http://questorpastor.blogspot.com/2013/04/on-holy-friendships.html
Thursday, April 18, 2013. My thoughts these days are drifting towards relationships, or the lack thereof in churches. I’ve been thinking about this in light of a recent blog post on CivilPolitics.org on the dearth of cross-party friendships. The post linked to a longer article in the Chronicle of Higher Education on the issue. The author, Neil Gross notes that such friendships have benefits for the whole of society. Musings on the Weekly Lectionary from an autistic Disciples of Christ pastor in Minneapolis. Friday, May 27, 2011. We Are the World. Sixth Sunday of Easter A. 15”If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. 17This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you. Peter denied Jesus, Judas betrayed him...

Musings on the Weekly Lectionary from an autistic Disciples of Christ pastor in Minneapolis. Saturday, April 7, 2012. Easter Sunday (Year B) Mark 16:1-8. April 8, 2012. The book ends on a note of hope, but it's not a "happy ending." The Oncler tosses the last Trufula seed to the boy listening to his story and tells the young man to plant it. We don't know what happens after that, but we hope that the boy will do as the Oncler says and heal the world. But what if Mark is doing a Dr. Suess? Mark put this o...

Musings on the Weekly Lectionary from an autistic Disciples of Christ pastor in Minneapolis. Friday, August 19, 2011. Coming to a Church Near You. Tenth Sunday of Pentecost. August 21, 2011. The passage in Exodus is definitely that start of a big budget film. There's a larger than life villian in the Pharoah, the plucky young women who defy the Pharoah's order and a baby is saved from destructions. You can even here the anthemic music score. As David Lose remarks. In our daily lives, we probably won't fa...

Musings on the Weekly Lectionary from an autistic Disciples of Christ pastor in Minneapolis. Saturday, April 30, 2011. First Sunday of Easter A. As I was preparing for a Lectionary Study this week, I came across the web Bible Study called Faith Lens. Published by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The study started off talking about a television show that I enjoy viewing called Mythbusters. Here's how contributor Bill King describes the show:. These are all good things to note in the text, but w...

July 31, 2011. 8217; And he said, ‘Jacob.’. After that shocking opening, the chorus then moves on:. You see everything, you see every part. You see all my light and you love my dark. You dig everything of which I'm ashamed. There's not anything to which you can't relate. And you're still here. And you're still here. Amazing. It was ...

The Clockwork Pastor- Musings on Faith and Autism
Tuesday, June 04, 2013. How a Gay Webcomic Teaches Christians About Resurrection. In a recent post, I said that being autistic makes it somewhat hard comprehend faith. I also said that what has helped me the most is the use of imagination to make visible what can seem not very visible or tangible at all. Tales about vampires or to a lesser extent, zombies, are good ways of understanding the afterlife to me. So, how do I come to understand the resurrection? What did it mean for Jesus to come back to life?
The Clockwork Pastor | Musings on Faith and Autism
Musings on Faith and Autism. The Curious Case of the Atheist Pastor. August 10, 2015. A controversy is brewing in the United Church of Canada over a minister who doesn’t believe in a God or in the Bible. 8220;I don’t believe in…the god called God,” Vosper said. “Using the word gets in the way of sharing what I want to share.”. 8220;Is the Bible really the word of God? Was Jesus a person? 8221; she said. Vosper made her views clear as far back as a Sunday sermon in 2001 but her congregation stood behind h...
