Sad to leave to Black Hills, made the 400mi ride down South to Rocky Mountain National Park (Estes), will be exploring the Rockies for the next couple days. We'll be heading up to Rocky Tundra line tomorrow morning and ride out to Bear Lake, roads out here are great the weather at 14,000ft is unpredictable, so hope it's not too cold up there. We actually got OUT of bed before 7am for the first time on this trip in Tuba City, AZ, heading West stopping at Grand Canyon so early nobody was a the East entrance. seriously can you believe that? Had best French toast (ever) at the GC Hotel (El-Tovar), before making the 500mi ride back into la la land. We covered some 6,000mi in just over 3 weeks, time of my life! Had to go back into Arches National Park this morning up to Devil's garden for some incredible arches scenery before heading South West toward Grand Canyon, made it as far as Tuba City, AZ. Took route US-163 through Mexican Hat and Monument Valley, beauty from a different perspective. Are you guys done? I want more pictures. September 22, 2009 at 8:27 PM. QuestWest - Exploring the American West! Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Day 17 - The Land Above The Trees. Enjoyed the day in Rocky Mountain National Park, going up to some 12,000ft, with the tundra line around 11,000 - 11,500ft, amazing seeing forests of trees just stop in their tracks due to altitude, frequent cold temperatures and strong winds, which as you can imagine made for a very chilly but incredibly scenic ride up the mountains. QuestWest - Exploring the American West! Sunday, September 20, 2009. Day 21 - Arches National Park (Moab). Left Park City this morning running down to Moab, UT to see Arches before sunset and it was perfect, going back early tomorrow morning to see more. Delicate Arch was definitely my favorite, never knew it was that BIG! And the wind carved canyon in front of it makes for spectacular views. the photos do no justice but it's the best I can do to describe this place. Should have more tomorrow.
