Temple of Confucius - 孔庙

The first temple to Confucius was built on this site shortly after his death. It was not until the Han dynasty, however, that the temple was sanctioned by the state. Yan Miao - 顏庙

Was one of Confucius' favorite students. He is one of the four assesors which have their altars to the east of Confucius in the Confucian temples in Qufu and Beijing. The temple to Yan Hui in Qufu was built during the Yuan dynasty. If the temple of Confucius. Had obviously been renovated recently and was in quite good condition. Confucian Forest - 孔林

Kong Family Mansions - 孔府

In 195 B.C. the emperor granted the family of Confucius official titles and charged them with maintaining the temple. The mansions the family built up over the centuries still survive in and are know as the Kong Fu. Map of the mansions from the local tourist map (in Chinese).

Zhou Kong Miao - 周公庙

Zhou Kong, or the Duke of Zhou. Was the brother of the 1st king of Zhou which replaced the Shang dynasty. He is credited with writing down the 64 hexagrams used in the I Ching. The temple had obviously been renovated in the recent past when I visited. It seemed to me to be in much better shape overall than even the Temple of Confucius. Maybe it just looked better in comparison to Yan Hui's temple. Panoramas stitched together from the photos above.
