Best of the Fray: Suck On This
http://bestofthefray.blogspot.com/2006/08/suck-on-this.html
Best of the Fray. Tuesday, August 15, 2006. Take it far enough and the liquid-less air cabin could force a change to the attendant's friendly question of "coffee, tea, juice, or soda? To something along the lines of "coffee grounds, tea bag, fruit, or sugar with caffeine? One would have to take these offerings, along with the obligatory pack of dry roasted peanuts, and suck on them during the flight. Then again, this raises new problems. Is saliva a banned or permitted liquid? Newsweek reports that last ...

Best of the Fray: Why I like dailykos
http://bestofthefray.blogspot.com/2006/10/why-i-like-dailykos.html
Best of the Fray. Wednesday, October 11, 2006. Why I like dailykos. For the same reason the lion prefers a teeming rain forest (I'll have to check on that). Maybe dkos will be washed away by the tides of cyber history. But if anyone has a chance of leaving a mark, it's them. The only contribution you are capable of is canned laughter for sitcoms. Wag the Slate: Don't Make Decisions By the "Ick Factor"
http://wagtheslate.blogspot.com/2006/11/dont-make-decisions-by-ick-factor.html
Thursday, November 09, 2006. Don't Make Decisions By the "Ick Factor". In response to this Slate article. I'm talking about an argument tactic that some people use. I see it time and time again - the squicked out reader hits that paragraph that describes the process of a late-term abortion and just freaks out. They start calling anyone who could do this a monster, etc. Banning this because you think the procedure is gross is NOT acceptable. Laws are made with the head. Think about it. Do we start ban...

Wag the Slate: Analysis of Virginia Returns
http://wagtheslate.blogspot.com/2006/11/analysis-of-virginia-returns.html
Wednesday, November 08, 2006. Analysis of Virginia Returns. How to read this map. I think it tells us a number of things even before we get to the dreaded recount. As I write this (Wednesday am), Webb is ahead and the odds-on favorite, but his victory is by no means assured. Nevertheless, the vote totals allow some preliminary conclusions about voting patterns in Virginia. I favor the Democrats, and thus will concentrate on what the election means for them. For suburbanites to think of him as real and hi...

Wag the Slate: Wag the Slate
http://wagtheslate.blogspot.com/2006/09/wag-slate.html
Monday, September 11, 2006. Wag the Slate is a community blog. It draws its members from Slate’s the fray. The name (Wag the Slate) doesn’t say it all, but it does say something about the origins of the blog. It’s a mixture of:. Why does a dog wag its tail? Because a dog is smarter than its tail. If the tail was smarter, the tail would wag the dog.". The Wisdom of Crowds. The fray has a long history in internet terms. It has been in existence in various incarnations since 1996. Its current form h...Was a...

Wag the Slate: Mike the Barber
http://wagtheslate.blogspot.com/2006/11/mike-barber.html
Friday, November 10, 2006. I just broke off a five-year relationship. It wasn't a valued relationship, although services were provided and pleasantries exchanged, but as these things go, some measure of loyalty has accreted over time with familiar intertia. He'd drawl without enthusiasm, remembering, without details, that I have young children. "How's work? Should I ask for you when I come back? Okaybut only on Fridays and Saturdays now.". I'll try to remember. Thanks.". Okay," he mumbled. She was right ...

Wag the Slate: I Want A Katrina Cottage
http://wagtheslate.blogspot.com/2006/11/i-want-katrina-cottage.html
Friday, November 10, 2006. I Want A Katrina Cottage. Makes perfect economic sense. It's an ideal size for an in-law apartment, I can buy it at Lowe's. And with almost an acre on my existing property I have the lot space to build it. I could use it for my parents, for my kids when they need a transition space after college, or even for myself if I want to get away from my kids. How much you want to bet zoning won't allow me to build it? Do you suppose K-Fed will live in one now? November 10, 2006 4:17 PM.
