THE OPPOSITE MACHINE: September 2014
http://artistavision.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
September 14, 2014. Robot uprising - S.W.A.T.bot - 042205. My good friend and neighbour Greg put me to the challenge this week. Our neighbourhood Ramsay was hosting a Beakerhead event for the kids, a robot uprising and scavenger hunt. We got a box from Mrs. Kim from the Alberta corner store and hit the dollar store for supplies, the challenge to build his son a cardboard robot costume. I did a little detail work and added some stencilled black lettering. Greg painted his boots silver and got the awes...

THE OPPOSITE MACHINE: unveiled-revealed
http://artistavision.blogspot.com/2015/05/unveiled-revealed.html
May 2, 2015. The project I have been helping Martinho Corriea. With and devoting a lot time to could not be shared until now as it has been formally unveiled at the Art Box where our studio has been for the past months. Here is Martinho giving a speech before the unveiling. It was a classy event, everyone who attended was dressed up, I didn't get the memo and I wore my Totoro cat bus shirt and painty pants, i guess thats the benefit of being one of the artists, I can get away with a fashion faux pas.

THE OPPOSITE MACHINE: February 2015
http://artistavision.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
February 24, 2015. Oil Sampler this Sunday at Swintons. I've given away all my Sundays, not to church, but to the temple of art at Swinton's and I love it. There is no other place I'd rather be that within the walls of the studio praising creativity. I lay out everything we need and begin the session with an overview of the entire process and the materials etc before beginning the demos. The next one is Acrylic happening Sunday, March 1st, 12:30 -3:30 pm. Click here for to sign up. Links to this post.

THE OPPOSITE MACHINE: Rich, thick, creamy, and sometimes messy.
http://artistavision.blogspot.com/2015/04/rich-thick-creamy-and-sometimes-messy.html
April 12, 2015. Rich, thick, creamy, and sometimes messy. Today I taught an oil sampler at Swintons Art supply. I love showing people interested in trying out oils for the first time. They always impress me with what the colours they mix and they create in such a short time given. The participants select a reference image and undertake painting it all a prima. At the end of the class they have their first piece to take home, I'd say thats an amazing way to spend a Sunday. Did I mention I have booth N01.

April 27, 2015. Acrylic Sampler at Swinton's April 26, 2015. It was the smallest size class I've had here so I gave them extra supplies and assigned a value cart and colour wheel on canvas board for them to experiment with and have something they can take home to refer to before getting onto their more creative try out. I showed how to make black using a limited palette as well as how to use just the primaries to get all the colours they may need. Another first timer went the portrait route based off a p...

THE OPPOSITE MACHINE: March 2015
http://artistavision.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
March 27, 2015. This class was full of quiet, studious hard working students, at times it made me a bit nervous and caused me to fill the air with the sound of my voice telling silly stories from my life and cheesy uncle jokes to help break the icy silence. I hope some go on to finish the pieces they began and further develop their ideas into a finished comic book. Some will visit my booth at this years comic expo and hopefully i can inspire them to take the leap and join artist alley in future years.

THE OPPOSITE MACHINE: A little sampling
http://artistavision.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-little-sampling.html
February 15, 2015. Every few Sundays I get the chance to introduce fledgling creators to new materials at Swintons through their samplers. It is a great joy to have a group of people who have never painted come in and 3 hrs. later they have a solid foundation and walk out having painted their first piece. This looks like a fun palette to work with. Some work on an easel others on the table. Whatever works. This floral painting turned out really beautifully, and just in time for Valentines day!
