A Penguin Musing: Tiny Sharp Sins
http://penguinmusing.blogspot.com/2011/11/tiny-sharp-sins.html
The story of a heart, and how it came home. Saturday, November 12, 2011. If you have ever had a splinter, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. Imagine having a bad, crooked splinter stuck in your skin, so that you couldn't move, couldn't do anything without feeling it. Imagine if it were impinging on a nerve, so that it was either numb or intensely painful all the time. Sometimes I don't even realize it's a splinter. Once again, how did I ever live before Confession? The Beginning (First Post).

A Penguin Musing: The Sirens of Insanity (or, Why I Believe in God)
http://penguinmusing.blogspot.com/2011/09/sirens-of-insanity-or-why-i-believe-in.html
The story of a heart, and how it came home. Friday, September 30, 2011. The Sirens of Insanity (or, Why I Believe in God). Hello, everyone. I have a problem when it comes to thinking about my faith. One thing theists and atheists have always seemed to agree on is the idea that a person ought to believe what he does for a reason. Everyone agrees on this so strongly that no one I have ever met seems to question it at all; the idea of supported, reasonable belief is so obvious that no one even discusses it.

A Penguin Musing: Just One Thing
http://penguinmusing.blogspot.com/2011/04/just-one-thing.html
The story of a heart, and how it came home. Saturday, April 16, 2011. Phew I just finished a particularly difficult couple of weeks, homework-wise. My stress level shows, most notably in my bedroom (in utter disarray at the moment) and in the kitchen (where the puppy has been the primary mode of floor-cleaning) and in my hair (which gets less and less attention as the exams draw nearer). So after driving home from my post-exam grocery-shopping trip, I was listening to Comptine d'un autre été. When it com...

A Penguin Musing: What Works
http://penguinmusing.blogspot.com/2012/02/what-works.html
The story of a heart, and how it came home. Thursday, February 16, 2012. Wow, I haven't written a blog post since last year. But I'm afraid that while second semester has been less demanding academically, it's been more demanding personally to such a degree as to more than make up for it. Most days, it's just too exhausting to contemplate writing anything here more substantial than,. Then I'm supposed to keep doing things? It's like the things never end. (Hat-tip to Hyperbole and a Half. I'm a vegetarian...

A Penguin Musing: August 2011
http://penguinmusing.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
The story of a heart, and how it came home. Friday, August 19, 2011. The blogposts about my travels are going to be on hold for a while. I would love to write more about them, but I simply, honestly, truly don't have time. I started medical school on Monday, and I do not want to miss the opportunity to write about that. Also, I no longer have anywhere near as much time as I did. Since it's Friday, I'll do Seven Quick Takes about Medical School, in honor of Jen at Conversion Diary. I'm in medical school!

Sophia or Something Like It: Papal Infallibility
http://sophiaorsomethinglikeit.blogspot.com/2013/09/papal-infallibility.html
Sophia or Something Like It. Interesting things, explained by the internet. Thursday, September 5, 2013. One of the distinguishing features of the Roman Catholic Church relative to other branches of Christianity is the Church's assertion that, under very limited circumstances, people are capable of speaking without possibility of error. You can read more about that here:. As "The Catholic equivalent of Super Saiyan;" more rigorous definitions exist in the Catechism. And counterintuitive most of the time&...

A Penguin Musing: December 2012
http://penguinmusing.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
The story of a heart, and how it came home. Monday, December 10, 2012. At the end, I'm going to quote Yann Martel in Life of Pi. Which is an excellent book and an easy read if you haven't read it. These are my parakeets. L-R: Buttercup, Peepers, and Clair. They are all females, and they get along quite splendidly most of the time. Occasional squabbles over food or a favorite perch cannot dim their affection for each other. Each has her own personality, and they are slowly learning not to fear me. It woul...

The story of a heart, and how it came home. Monday, October 8, 2012. What I think about during Mass - the Our Father. So I'm going to write some things on here about what I think about during Mass (or I'm going to write one or two things and then forget about it). Today I'm writing about the Our Father. I think about a lot of things during the Our Father. For one thing, it does not. A couple of phrases in the Our Father often strike me: " give us this day our daily bread. But what's struck me lately is w...
