Quietly Amused

There is no spoon. Monday, July 29, 2013. I know I haven't written in a couple of years. I know that this might just be another start to a series of fabulous literature but in all likelihood it may be nothing. Today my grandfather would've been 85. He died after battling lymphoma for about a year and a half. I wrote this in the middle of all of that. It's all I can think of writing for now. There were days he'd leave earlier, where I wouldn't hear the bells in the puja room as I woke, or have to answer p...

Quietly Amused: July 2009

http://quietlyamused.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

There is no spoon. Sunday, July 05, 2009. Been a while, alligator. So it turns out that planetary. Alignments being favourable and a syzygy. In the offing led to my suddenly finding 36 hours of absolute absence form work. This, ladies and gentlemen, is a gift. Not one to be squandered on beer, beef and blogging, but one to relish those moments of peace, of solitude, of getting back in touch with the inner Mayan. This blog with a brand new edition of the usual nonsense. Produced after a hot night in Peru.

Quietly Amused: April 2008

http://quietlyamused.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

There is no spoon. Tuesday, April 29, 2008. It recently came to my attention that Nickel Creek, a band I've loved for a few years now has decided to indefinitely split up and its 3 members want to pursue their own individual solo careers. While this is yet another instance of something giving me great joy disappearing in a puff of reality, this post is hopefully not yet an obituary. Photographer who specializes in music/musician photography. As they say in the IRC way JFGI for more information. Their las...

Quietly Amused: January 2008

http://quietlyamused.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

There is no spoon. Monday, January 21, 2008. I've had enough of aborted posts. Some five lie incomplete in the drafts folder and it's beginning to look like the death of a blog and one that I swore never to let die. So here goes. After some many half-hearted lines on small towns, John Butler and his two friends and a bit on Rashid. Well it seems while you can't make horses drink water, most would once led to a stream or some similar water body. Of this sort, I beg for forgiveness. House would go infectio...

Quietly Amused: July 2008

http://quietlyamused.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

There is no spoon. Saturday, July 26, 2008. So with all the criticism I'm trying to come up with something that's not minimalist, involves that neurosurgeron face, unispired in a good way, has blood gore and a drill. Reminds me of that Dilbert and Dogbert conversation regarding stringing together the top ten words that make funny jokes. Don't remember most of them but weasel was somewhere there. In the top 5. Thursday, July 24, 2008. Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Monday, July 14, 2008. On the days gone by.

A Medico's Diary: May 2010

http://adayinthelifeofamedico.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 10, 2010. Food and sleep are my holy grail. (Sort of. Despite not being Dan Brown, I don't care about inaccuracies.) I can never have them when I need them. I think the worst time is two in the night, when even the roaring from my stomach cannot keep me awake. Thus goes the life of a hapless intern, who, as the saying goes, is overworked and underpaid. Not for long, maybe. A huge maybe. Sometimes, I wonder about what it was like to be normal. I can't remember. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

A Medico's Diary: Romance, He Wrote

http://adayinthelifeofamedico.blogspot.com/2012/06/romance-he-wrote.html

Monday, June 11, 2012. Romance, He Wrote. A beach lit up by the full moon, breeze blowing in from the sea. A lovely young doctor with antiquated ideas about love and romance, despite being married for over a year, and to a curmudgeon at that. A curmudgeon, doing a poor imitation of a human being. Crabs (the marine kind, not of the itchy variety). The lovely young doctor, hereinafter referred to as Pancreas, and her curmudgeon of a husband, hereinafter referred to as Curmudgeon, or Mudgy, are having dinner.

A Medico's Diary: The Legacy

http://adayinthelifeofamedico.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-legacy.html

Monday, August 19, 2013. My niece is five-and-a-half years old. Her brother is barely three. She speaks with a clarity well beyond the capabilities of most eight-year-olds. He! She hates school. He hates going to school, and then refuses to come back home in the evening. My niece wants to be a doctor when she grows up. She's not old enough to know any better, but she's been saying that from the time she could talk. She knows where her heart is, and can listen to it with my stethoscope. A long time ago.

iMaddy: December 2008

http://simplymaddy.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 13, 2008. Being a broadcast professional is not always fun and games. To be honest, most often it is a thankless job because we are working odd hours and on holidays, there is always pressure to perform well, we are always under scrutiny and public memory is shortlived. But there are some occasions when one feels so good about being one! In my case, the 5th edition of DIFF. How cool is that! Made me look at the whole event in a new light. So, after calling it a wrap on what I thought a...

Wednesday, April 30, 2008. The blog has definitely and unfortunately become a monthly affair, going by the frequency at which yours truly has been putting up posts. The dashboard and yours truly's head is overflowing with half drafted posts which might never see the light of the day for whatever reasons. Anyways, the month of April is almost over. and here comes this months installment. and hear this. this post is being typed on MAC! Yours truly is a PROUD MAC owner. This baby just feels so good!

iMaddy: May 2009

http://simplymaddy.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 20, 2009. My sweet cubicle mate and colleague at my new place of work made me realize that it had been quite some time since I last visited my blog or posted something. Post redundancy, life has been a whirlwind of activity- be it the play, getting in to the groove of my new job, making space for new people in my life, reconciling with the exit of some old ones, getting the every day of life sorted out. Phew! The list is endless! But I am not complaining. Lord knows I am not!

Champak: October 2007

http://champakvan.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 8, 2007. Driving to work this morning, I was listening to BMK's Gayathi Vanamali (Hamsadhvani, Adi). Beautiful, beautiful song! Came into my office still swooning with ecstasy! Especially the line, 'Pushpasugandhasumalayasameere.', is my favourite. The lyric as well as the out-of this-world rendition by BMK are just awesome! Infact I was so moved by this line in the song that 'Sumalaya Sameera' was a top pick for my daughter's name! KUjita shukapika mukha khagakunjE. Links to this post.

Quietly Ambitious

Being both ambitious and introverted comes with its challenges. I sat down the other day and wrote out a few things I regularly deal with. Sometimes I feel as if I’m being pulled in opposite directions and for my own peace of mind I’m constantly having to find the balance. I want to come forward but I also want to be in the back. I want to be spontaneous and outgoing but I spend too long analysing possible outcomes. I want to lead but I also want to follow. It’s 4am and I’m tired. This post was written a...

If I Become a Part of Memory

Friday, May 28, 2010:. Do you actually know me? Do you know who I really am? Though I smile, there's something I am hiding and I can't find a way to relate with the people around me. Sometimes I pretend to be happy, to be busy when inside I just wants to cry out loud. Why not take a look at my life and put yourself in my shoes? And maybe you'll see why I wait for the day when it comes. I realized people just can't seem to get past all the things that mismatched on the surface. Germaine blogged on 10:23 AM.

Quietly Askew | words, words, words

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety-Jig. I decided about three weeks ago that I couldn’t continue living the way I was. I pulled myself out of my stupor and became proactive. I put it out to the universe that I needed a new job. Then I got to work. I sent him my resume and talks commenced. The position was for high school English, but required a reading endorsement, so I wasn’t qualified for it. My former principal told me that he’d continue working on finding a job for me. I feel like I am going home again.
