Quietly Freaking Out

Sunday, September 30, 2007. Quietly Saying Goodbye, Loudly Freaking Out. Wellthis is it. I'm leaving quietlyfreakingout. It was always meant to be a temporary thing until I could summon enough motivation to build my own website almost two years now (wow, art school did a number on me). I've been a designer in hiding, with Blogger as my cover. But I guess I've finally grown up because, look at me. There is only so much blood plasma I am willing to sell. To read about my work in the field of education.

Quietly Freaking Out: August 2006

http://www.quietlyfreakingout.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 15, 2006. Hey everyone, I just got back from our site visit in Nouadhibou. I think John said it best when I asked him what we were going to tell the kids back in Kaedi and he answered "what are we going to say? That it's so much better than just about anything you'll ever known in Mauritania? And it's true. The Sahara meets the Atlantic in a beautiful and dramatic way. I sunbathed on sand dunes and swam in the ocean for my site visit. I feel like I've won the lottery. Followed by a show -...

Quietly Freaking Out: April 2007

http://www.quietlyfreakingout.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 22, 2007. Hey everyone, I'm coming home in June! Reserve your spot now, I'll only be around for a couple of weeks. How many Peace Corps volunteers does it take to push a bus out of the sand? And we were bee-lining it for Dakar (seriously, why is everyone still honking at us? So I guess in Senegal, they have road rules. Rules like, stay in your own lane. And yield to pedestrians. And the freeway on-ramp is not a turn-lane. What can I say about WAIST? This picture of Patrick courtesy of my No...

Monday, July 23, 2007. Back in the 'bou. So we're back from the states. We had a good time. We ate a lot. We tried to see everyone and failed. No worries though, we'll be back soon. For those of you interested in seeing more pictures of where we live, I found some good ones of Nouadhibou. The photo with the mirror was taken on my street. Pretty nice, non? Posted by Erin at 7:42 AM. So good to see you! John wished he could have hung out more. He's glad you got some Freaks and Geeks, though:).

Quietly Freaking Out: December 2006

http://www.quietlyfreakingout.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 12, 2006. Wait Do I work? These nostalgic notions are almost instinctual. Hard-wired relics of a past westernized and developed life. I now live in a real-life Endless Summer devoid of Christmas-time consumer frenzy, Page 6 trashy gossip, and holiday (I'd rather be getting a frontal labotomy than drive to the airport) travel. It's the middle of December where's my "oh-my-god-Christmas-is-coming" annual anxiety attack? I, strangely, kind of miss it. Granola. It's been under a week si...

Dead Souls: April 2007

Home Life in Old Spokane. Sunday, April 29, 2007. Library sales are dangerous. No, I didn't. Buy a whole library, though soon I could start one. The Spokane Library. Had a big sale this weekend and once again, I fell for it. How could I not though, all fiction was 3 for $1.00! I already had, and another one, It's All Right Now. I had already read. I also picked up a copy of An Equal Music. Wonder When You'll Miss Me. Back to the book. I especially like the association between Superman and the golem.

Home Life in Old Spokane. Wednesday, June 20, 2007. To a much better place. And a much better place. Would have to be special. Now, I'm the sort of guy who allow a musician some indulgences. I'll generally go along with it. I've sat through more experimental Sonic Youth records than I care to talk about. I've dip my cup into the well that is John Cale's career and found the occasional dead rodent, but I still go back. Saturday, June 9, 2007. So, I really liked What is the What. Home Life in Old Spokane. Thursday, May 17, 2007. So, I was riding my bike today and I passed this house in Hillyard. That looked pretty typical. Most of hillyard. You've gotta love Christopher Hitchens. Character trying to figure out the nature of you. Anyway, I have a strong dislike for segregationist homophobes. And I like this epithet. For Jerry Falwell that comes from Hitchen's interview on Hannity and Colmes:. The New Republic Weblogs. Saturday, May 5, 2007. We went to Luna. View my complete profile.

Home Life in Old Spokane. Saturday, June 9, 2007. So, I really liked What is the What. By Dave Eggers. I also am rather partial to The New Republic. Especially their blog, The Plank. So I was a bit unhappy when I saw the review. They printed of What is the What. This review was mostly involved with reviewing Dave Eggers and McSweeney's. Guess what, Lee Siegel doesn't like McSweeney's and though he claims otherwise, I don't think he likes Dave Eggers much either. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Dead Souls: Get Lit!

http://homelifeinspokane.blogspot.com/2007/04/get-lit.html

Home Life in Old Spokane. Sunday, April 29, 2007. I finally went to a Get Lit! Event Just about the last one. I saw Jonathan Lethem. Speak and then sign books at the Center Stage theater. Lethem was very funny and did more of a performance from his new book than a reading. As for the book, You Don't Love Me Yet. I've heard mixed reviews. The part that he read was very entertaining though. I got a copy of Fortress of Solitude. Signed and Amber bought a copy of As She Climbed Across the Table.

Home Life in Old Spokane. Sunday, March 25, 2007. So the other day the wife and I went to Gonzaga's Jundt Art Museum. I appreciate that they don't charge for admission, but I wish there was more to see. You enter the building and walk down a short hall. To the left is a room with a sofa and some chairs and a large Chihuly. I really wish there was a good museum around here. The MAC. However, The Tinman. Well, now we can all be scared, which is fun. I think I'll write a letter talking about the kids an...
