Knowing and being known… then belonging…. For the ladies…. February 18, 2012. By Chadwick and Amy. Several years ago, I was able to spend some time in the prayer room at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. It was a well needed retreat at a time when there was a great deal of uncertainty in my life personally and professionally. Was in full effect. Nevertheless… it was a space that God was seemingly opening doors for me to walk through, and I knew that my heart was prepared to go there.

On life, God, life with God, and other musings. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. To become impatient is to want what we do not have, and not to want what we do have. In so doing, the soul is handed over to its passions, and neither reasoning nor faith can hold it back, so trouble is it. Such weakness! Such swerving away from the right path! As long as we desire the soul-sickness that brings us suffering - to us it is. Not sickness - why would we make our sickness a reality by ceasing to desire it? My brother...

On life, God, life with God, and other musings. Thursday, October 23, 2008. Lessons learned in raquetball.so far. Ok, so.my brother talked me into taking a raquetball class at the athletic club.haha. Said no at first, but he said he'd pay for it - so what was there to argue with except my own pride? After these first two classes - and with my new MSFL class ("Disciplines of the Spirit"), there are a few things worth noting. 1 - I'm not expected. To play like a pro! 2 - Change comes incrementally. As ...

On life, God, life with God, and other musings. Friday, August 29, 2008. In an ongoing conversation with friends, I've been thinking some about. Hebrews 11:1 is typically the verse cited when a definition is needed. So I looked it up in several versions. When we read words like. Do we assume that faith = certainty, absence of doubt? If this is faith, then either we must admit we are a hopeless cause or we must deny simple facts of reality. What if faith is more than this? Hebrews 11:1, the Message. Feeli...

On life, God, life with God, and other musings. Friday, February 29, 2008. I don't need new glasses. I need new eyes. There are two ways I can define LIFE:. 1) in terms of the visual, material, physical world - the "seen," and. 2) in terms of of the spiritual, non-physical world - the "unseen.". And have it abundantly." NRSV). Which viewpoint do I believe? Or maybe I should ask.Which viewpoint do I live? The Lord is my Shepherd.". This moment. Each moment. When I am promised abundant life. When life fall...

On life, God, life with God, and other musings. Wednesday, October 29, 2008. A question from class that has me.thinking :). Why do you think the Spiritual Disciplines are seen by many people as “optional add-ons for super Christians”? I’m going to risk sounding heretical here. Sunday, October 26, 2008. Found this on a blog I just started following - Becoming Like Jesus. Touching on some major realities. Church is not a place for questions.it's a place for answers"? On life, God, life with God, and other musings. Saturday, May 31, 2008. The path of spiritual transformation today lies through. The illumination that we have ruined souls." Dallas Willard. The last couple days I've been in Matthew 8:5-13. This afternoon I was really, really tired - that afternoon slump. That makes you want to go to bed at 5:00. I stretched out on the bed, thinking Yeah, I am totally gonna fall asleep. I pulled out this passage, though.and felt strangely, deeply rested and energized.

On life, God, life with God, and other musings. Monday, January 28, 2008. True prayer goes beyond the boundaries of language. In a blog posting in August 2007, Jerrell Jobe said,. I've played around with this kind of doodling prayer- we've even experimented with it in our Kidz Church program. It's fun, engaging, and surprisingly expressive in a way that words sometimes are not. This article is a little something I just found on Christianity Today. How the simplest art can become a form of prayer. Althoug...

On life, God, life with God, and other musings. Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Invitation to a Journey. I got the first few books that were listed for last semester's beginning classes for the MSFL. They're all so. I've been reading Robert Mulholland's. Invitation to a Journey. And how these would influence the journey to Christlikeness. This is not approached from the standpoint of, "This is my personality type, so it's ok that I don't want to do this discipline or that practice. It's just not. I was “...

QUIET REVOLUTION is an instigative state of mind. It’s an inner home, a sense of place where I find stillness to experiment and create regardless of location while very much valuing the environs that inspire me along the way.
