Quills & Quiche: In Which I Advise Those Who Will Come After Me

http://www.quillsandquiche.blogspot.com/2012/02/in-which-i-advise-those-who-will-come.html

Sunday, February 19, 2012. In Which I Advise Those Who Will Come After Me. So far, no one has asked for my blondie recipe. I imagine that I am not the only person seeing her spouse through graduate school. In the spirit of solidarity, then, let me offer these five handy tips for surviving the long years ahead:. 1 Learn the lingo. This is important. The hubby and I used to have conversations that went like this:. Me: Erm. Can you chop that mango for me? Me: Erm. Smoochies? So I'm working on learning the l...

Quills & Quiche: In Which I Make Plans and Abandon Them

http://www.quillsandquiche.blogspot.com/2012/02/in-which-i-make-plans-and-abandon-them.html

Thursday, February 2, 2012. In Which I Make Plans and Abandon Them. I have this friend. I met her in college. We were both eighteen, but she was already so much older. It was like she was the dorm mother, always there to wipe a tear, always ready to make you a big pot of tea and listen to your sorrows. And she was a great cook. (Still is.) It's funny to think of dorm. In the same breath, but somehow she managed it. I have a quiet life. How's that for happy endings? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Quills & Quiche: May 2011

Wednesday, May 11, 2011. In Which I Make Nice Smells. A brief history of chicken stock:. 1990-2006: Every year around the end of November, I watch my mother make turkey stock. All sorts of unnatural items go into the pot, most memorably the bits of a turkey that you would be least likely to consume. I helpfully observe that the neck looks like the thing that comes out of one's chest in Alien. My mother, year after year, swats me out of the kitchen and informs me that my observations are not appreciated.

Two happy people setting out on a grand adventure together.and what better way to begin an adventure? I always like to have cherubic choir boys lauding me when I start my. Adventures, personally. Also shrubberies. And fabulous hats. (Especially hats that resemble the entire female reproductive system. But the best that can be said of the wedding has, of course, already been said by my sister. Quills & Quiche: In Which I Humbly Request Your Assistance

http://www.quillsandquiche.blogspot.com/2012/01/in-which-i-humbly-request-your.html

Wednesday, January 18, 2012. In Which I Humbly Request Your Assistance. My computer got all sluggish again tonight. (More sluggish than usual, I mean. It's pretty elderly, and just like elderly folks it wakes up pretty slowly and likes to take the occasional nap in the middle of the day.usually when I'm trying to watch the new episode of Downton Abbey. So the hubby was cleaning the cache, and as he did so he remarked, "Crazy! I'm removing half a gigabyte! And I did that thing where I go "Hmm! I start to ...

Thursday, July 7, 2011. Because I need more social media to keep up with. I have started. a Tumblr. I'll be posting pretty pictures and quotes and occasionally funny macros and the odd thought - basically anything I feel like sharing that's too insubstantial to go here but which doesn't quite fit my Twitter account either. I don't think anyone except Shannon is actually. Tumblr, but if you're curious, you can check me out. here. See you 'round, favorites. Labels: the future we lives in it. Wow im a nerd.

The beach with the Heyboers. Swimming lessons for Eli. Blueberry picking with Kissingers. The zoo with Alysha. Go fly a kite!

Thursday, May 30, 2013. Where are you going and where have you been? Well, we are heading into summer and we have been busy! Having our "babies" grow into 4 year olds has meant so many more adventures. We celebrated these soon to be newlyweds. We built these for a Mother's Day gift. We grilled and had smores. We got 3 stitches put in and removed. We (Kara and Jodi) went here for a quick get away. We graduated from 3/4yr preschool. We celebrated 8 years with that big kid in the hat. We hit the ball.

Mmm, pie.: June 2011

http://chipmunkrhetoric.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 23, 2011. I did not die of dysentery. Ages ago, I promised an Oregon trip picspam, and I'm finally delivering! I had a really lovely time visiting Kathleen and Noah over Memorial Day weekend. I was there for four days, and while there, I made the following observations:. I found it ironic that an area that's so infamously "green" has an economy that relies so heavily economically on the foresting industry. However, they are required by law to replant, which is pretty cool. We had to hike t...

Friday, February 22, 2013. In which I bitch and whine. Not sorry. My parents are getting a dog. I'm not entirely okay with this. It's not my decision, and it's really not any of my business since I don't live there anymore - plus, they're getting a sheltie and shelties are SO SUPER CUTE - but I visit them a lot, and ew, it's still a dog. Dogs smell like dog and they drool and bark and run around and sometimes you have to touch them. Even when you don't want to (which is always). I think this all just goe...

Writing is hard work. Hours crawl by while you hunch over your desk, in thrall to words that may or may not come, while deadlines loom and the mountain of unwashed dishes in your sink grows so high you need crampons to reach the top. Friends and colleagues have generously supplied their opinions, and by now you have rewritten your novel/essay/report so many times your eyes hurt every time you think about it. But, you ask, is it ready. 160; Abby Egerter.
