Gettin' crafty in the 718. News from Paris Quilt. September 6, 2016. September 6, 2016. This one was made for my friends (and neighbors) Kiki and Roland in June 2014. It was a quick finish — time got away from me, and I started it just a week before the wedding. I used Paris-themed fabric, because that’s where they got engaged. There’s a key print in there too, a reference to the since-defunct. 8220;love locks” of the Pont des Arts. Bridge, which they had visited and incorporated into the event decor.

https://quiltinginqueens.com/2016/08/05/birthday-throw-quilt-for-rosa
Gettin' crafty in the 718. Birthday Throw Quilt for Rosa. August 5, 2016. This is the first quilt I ever free-motion quilted! I made this for Jorge’s mom as a birthday gift in April 2014. I loved these Dear Stella fabrics in my stash and thought a great way to show them off would be to cut them into big squares. I added sashing with cornerstones to liven up the design. I’d been trying to free motion quilt for a while before this, but had a lot of trouble with stippling. 8216;s book,. Besides the quilting...

Gettin' crafty in the 718. Retreat Evan and Tiffany’s Wedding Quilt. August 15, 2016. My friend Evan got married! We met in Kindergarten and grew up together in the background of this picture. Obviously, after 25 years of friendship, a quilt was in order. A few months ago, I asked Evan for his and his fiancée’s favorite colors, and decided to make a two-color quilt for them with his response. I had been itching to try Accuquilt’s Hunter’s Star. I picked out two Timeless. Tonga batiks and got to work.
Throwback! Ice Cream Picnic Quilt – Quilting in Queens
https://quiltinginqueens.com/2016/12/17/throwback-ice-cream-picnic-quilt
Gettin' crafty in the 718. Ice Cream Picnic Quilt. December 17, 2016. This is a quilt I made in my early days of sewing. I know it must have been in my first year or two of learning, because there’s no label on it (I did not fully appreciate the importance back then). Label your quilts, people. Or else you are doomed to a fate of deliberating the timeline of each project like this:. But it’s not quilted yet in this photo… so when DID I quilt this? Yeah, not very scientific. I used this tutorial. I have w...

Lifes Pieces of Scraps Make a Quilt
Lifes Pieces of Scraps Make a Quilt. Sunday, November 15, 2009. I started working on some candle mats for Christmas gifts. They are very easy to make and go together really fast. If I had no interruptions I could get them all done in a couple of days. Here. I admire the crumb blocks that a friend of mine makes. I have enough scraps to keep me busy on those for awhile so I want to give it a try. Maybe make some small items like placemats.hotpads .coasters.potholders and blah! You get the picture. Until ne...

Of course I had to make some handmade goodies to help them welcome my nephew! As soon as I found out it was a boy, I knew I wanted to use Dear Stella’s On My Way. Fabric by Samarra Khaja.
