It's nearly two years since I had the hard job of clearing my Mothers house, when she went into a rest home. So I can identify with this a lot. Friday, January 30, 2015. Best of Show- Quilt Manawatu, Symposium 2015. I know Symposium closed over a week ago now, but I needed time to recover before posting! I live in Northland so it was a long road trip to get to Palmerston North, but of course to was worth it. Anyway on to important stuff.Quilts. The best of show “Is It Art” by Melanie Martin of Tauranga. I thought this was a superb quilt, I especially loved the clever use of ombre fabrics that did make the word QUILTING. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Opua Arts Studio and Gallery. Last weekend the hubby and I went to Paihia, while we were up that way a wanted to have a peek at the Opua Arts Studio and Gallery. I was lucky to find Charlotte at work when I popped in, and we had a lovely chat as she showed me around. Here is Charlotte with her work in progress. The fabrics are her own hand dyes and the moon is made with fabric stained by rust. I have just noticed that Charlotte is wearing the same colours she is working with!
