Tips and Tricks

Cutting away fabric behind. Quilting an appliquéd block will be easier if you are stitching through as few layers as possible. For this reason, and to reduce puffiness, its suggested that you reduce the layers. To do so, After stitching the piece in place, turn the block over. Use sharp scissors to cut away the background to approximately 3/16 from sew line. Take care not to cut through your appliqué or its stitches. Sewing Triangles with Bias Edges Together.
