Bureau of Indian Affairs. Keeping an eye on the ocean for blue-green algae the QIN’s Harmful Algal. The QIN’s Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) monitoring project will kick back into gear this summer. The project allows the Nation to detect harmful algal blooms in the ocean. The algae produces toxins such as domoic acid which can poison shellfish and, potentially, people.
