Author: Emily in Qatar. These posts are brought to you by me, from a patch of desert in the Middle East. I'm a full time homemaker and mother of five children. My simple pleasures include yoga, writing, eating cookies, and tickling my kids. Daughter in the wilderness. Jon and I with our awesome tribe. I felt impressed that the weekend was not unlike another time when we were shown a plan and given the choice to participate or not. We face the same choices at home that we faced on the trek:. May 21, 2014.
The Liahona Quest | Quirky in Qatar

Brother and Sister Farmer of the Doha 1st ward acted as Lehi and Sariah. Local camel herders brought their animals from nearby camps. Keith Woodhouse, Stake Young Men’s President:. A simple compass was placed within a rounded, metal container to represent the Liahona. Each tribe followed directions given with the compass to find items that reminded them of the difficulties Lehi’s family faced during their time in the wilderness. We] learned that it might be pretty easy to fall into the pattern of murmuri...

Daughter in the wilderness. Jon and I with our awesome tribe. We knew what the conference would entail before we started: Sand. Heat. Fatigue. Close quarters with stinky people. But also camaraderie, hands-on experiences with the scriptures, spiritual nourishment, and FUN! I felt impressed that the weekend was not unlike another time when we were shown a plan and given the choice to participate or not. We face the same choices at home that we faced on the trek:. Cholesterol isn’t catching. I had already loaded the little girls and climbed into the scorching driver’s seat when a man approached the open passenger window. His accent was thick and muddled, but I’ve been petitioned enough to know what he was looking for. Being a fairly warm day, he looked hot and thirsty. I decided to go ahead and give him 20QR (about $5 USD), enough for a schwarma and a bottle of water. I can save him with another 100QR! I shook my head and buckled my seat belt. That’s enough. He bl...

The Peterson Life: June 2014
http://cassidyrandi.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
A look into the life of Cassidy, Randi, and Alden Peterson. Thursday, June 26, 2014. The plan was to drive from Rockland to Glenns Ferry, but we got lucky and the freeway was closed from an accident that morning and we were detoured through Paul. This is where my mom grew up so we drove by the drive thru she worked in and this is the house she grew up in. According to LaWayne my grandmother was a much better grounds keeper and the house looked a lot better back then. Glenns Ferry also has one of the only...

A look into the life of Cassidy, Randi, and Alden Peterson. Thursday, August 21, 2014. Getting daily shots. As a note to my self esteem, this was a weird camera angle and I look much larger than I really am. The fertility clinic in Salt Lake where the "magic happened". Getting ready for retrieval. Post retrieval. I was so tired I asked Cass the same question 3 times, but on the upside I got all of the graham crackers and apple juice I wanted. Wednesday, August 13, 2014. The Monte L Bean Museum. After a t...
The Peterson Life: November 2014
http://cassidyrandi.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
A look into the life of Cassidy, Randi, and Alden Peterson. Sunday, November 30, 2014. We enjoyed an incredibly warm fall this year and tried to take advantage of it in every way possible. There is a little pumpkin patch play area that goes up every year just down the street from Cass' parent's house and I just discovered this year that it is free so of course we had to check it out. Alden loved it! There was a couple of mazes, some slides, a tractor ride, petting zoo, and pumpkin patch. There are no pic...

A look into the life of Cassidy, Randi, and Alden Peterson. Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Can you believe Alden is 2? Grandpa Norton decorated the cake and Alden couldn't wait to get the car off (he also loves cars! The extent of my decorating skills. This is a phrase from the opening song of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse if you aren't familiar with it. He also did awesome at unwrapping the gifts all by himself. This is the first time he has done this so it is kind of a big deal. Thanks for all of our family for c...

A look into the life of Cassidy, Randi, and Alden Peterson. Friday, March 20, 2015. An Event 3 Years in the Making. We just had family over to celebrate on the Saturday before his birthday. He loved opening presents and couldn't wait to play with all of them, although he could have been ok with Jonathan and Sam not wanting to play with all of them. He had a well rounded birthday though with some toys, some clothes, and a book or two. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Cassidy and Randi Peterson. Kylie, Eric, an...
The Peterson Life: Welcome Gracie Clair
http://cassidyrandi.blogspot.com/2015/04/welcome-gracie-clair.html
A look into the life of Cassidy, Randi, and Alden Peterson. Saturday, April 4, 2015. We were shocked and in love with all of her hair. Meeting mom for the first time. Meeting big brother for the first time. He was really excited to hold her for about 10 seconds and then he was done. He has been really great with her though and adjusted well to her presence. Here he is sharing his prized blanket with her. We didn't even ask him too. First family picture as a family of 4. April 6, 2015 at 8:19 PM. Miss Kay...

A look into the life of Cassidy, Randi, and Alden Peterson. Sunday, March 30, 2014. The Norton's come for a visit. Then we headed over to the park to meet some other friends and enjoy the nice weather. And after the park we headed over to get some cupcakes. This place called Cravings in Pleasant Grove won cupcake wars last year so they must be good, right? Checking out the beehives. Rudy and Jarom had fun too. Looking out of the T-rex wooden skull. Don't worry LaWayne and Cass had fun too. And although I...
The Peterson Life: September 2014
http://cassidyrandi.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
A look into the life of Cassidy, Randi, and Alden Peterson. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Once We Went to the Zoo. Back in August Jamie's family came to Utah for a quick trip, but she let us tag along while she used her birthday present (a membership to the Hogle Zoo). I had to be the child care provider in order to get in free with her pass, but it was worth it. The boys were so good. This is how the afternoon started. Classic family photo spot, too bad Alden refused to go anywhere near the fake gorilla.

The Quirky Indian | A tongue-in-cheek commentary on the things that make us Indian
A tongue-in-cheek commentary on the things that make us Indian. August 14, 2012. Quirky Indian Habits Numbers 79 and 113 (aka Minding Your Pees and Thoos). Posted by The Quirky Indian under Uncategorized. Sharell has already done a post on the Indian proclivity for spitting in public. And I quite like the numbering convention. She’s come up with, so I have taken the liberty of borrowing that for my post. That got me thinking about other strange Indian spitting rituals. Have any of the male readers he...

Discovering the quirky side of Indonesia *. September 7, 2014. Bogor Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya Bogor). Last week I went to the Botanical Garden in Bogor (in Indonesian: Kebun Raya Bogor. Bogor is just a one-hour drive from Jakarta so it is a nice alternative if you want to get away from Jakarta during the weekend. The Botanical Garden is hugeeeeee. Coincidently, the presidential palace ( Istana Bogor. We entered through Gate 1 (there are many gates). The entrance fee was IDR 15,000 per person. Legend ...

Musings of a Quirky Introvert. Ideas … observations … reflections. August 14, 2015. Last December I found a pattern for a Beaded Elastic Caterpillar Bracelet on 3dbeading.com that I wanted to try. A few months later I couldn’t find the site again, but was able to find the Wayback Machine archive. Of it The embellishments over the larger beads reminded me of the Hugs and Kisses Beaded Bracelet.
