Confessions of a patterns and fabric (& vintage! You are here: Home. I just wanted to dress up as a fairy. I just wanted to dress up as a fairy. August 4, 2014. In all honesty, dear readers, I must give you a fair warning: it’s very likely this blog will take a turn towards cosplay and creative sewing for the time being, rather than regular garment sewing. I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But I hope you’ll still come by and visit from time to time! I was going to be a fairy! So I constructed ...

Dunn House Happenings: March 2011
http://dunnhousehappenings.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 31, 2011. Today at Dunn House we experienced a loss. This is Walter. He had a rough start to life, being born in a pool where someone had discarded his family without any care. Luckily, my hubs being a conscientious pool guy, found the little darlings and rescued all 40 of them. They were all given away, except for Walter here, and Marina his sister (? Of course we handled this situation with the utmost care. The perfect plot had to be searched out. Before I sign off I wanted to make sure...

Dunn House Happenings: February 2011
http://dunnhousehappenings.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 28, 2011. Old friends and prayers. Yesterday an old "friend" came to visit. We hadn't seen him in about 6 years. My husband has known him since they were pretty young. And since I have been with Roy for the last 20 or so years, I have known this guy that long. Eventually, they broke up, moved away, and we lost touch for the most part. The girls are now 18 and 17. choke, choke. Where has time gone. The girls drifted through town staying with different people all the time, ...About the tim...

Dunn House Happenings: April 2011
http://dunnhousehappenings.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 24, 2011. Today is GLORIOUS Easter Sunday, or resurrection day, and it was very quiet here for us. The sun only came out this morning for a bit, but the rest of the day it was gloomy, and at times even misty. Even though I have KNOWN it, I seem to have a real awareness this year. Even during the week leading up to today, I sort of recounted the last hours of Jesus life here in this world before his crucifixion. What Jesus went through for me, wow! It drops me to my knees! Last Monday, my gi...

Dunn House Happenings: Day 27...
http://dunnhousehappenings.blogspot.com/2011/10/day-27.html
Thursday, October 27, 2011. Today is Day 27, and I am still doing the challenge for Down syndrome awareness. Last year I did this on Facebook, because I didn't have a blog yet. Would you think it wrong of me to say that I am glad that this challenge is almost over. I think that next year I will be better. I can gather more information, research more stories. That is not to say that there isn't more to say, and plenty of stories NOW to share. THERE ARE! That post is coming. My child had Down syndrome....

Adventures in cosplay – Couturlututu

Confessions of a patterns and fabric (& vintage! You are here: Home. April 28, 2014. I’m approaching 40, but lately I started to let my inner geek show. I’m attending comic cons. I’m buying geeky t-shirts — and lots of them. I’m spending more time on Tumblr more than on Facebook. Mid-life crisis? I have no idea. But who cares, really? I also have to make a confession: I’m a huge fan of Doctor Who. You could easily say I’m addicted! Check them out, they do amazing work on props replicas! Please excuse the...

Did you miss me? | SEWN
http://www.sewnblog.com/did-you-miss-me
Did you miss me? I know, I know I have been MIA for many months now. To be honest. my mind has been elsewhere and I have been incubating some new (non-sewing) creations. I haven’t really sewn much at all, but I have been very busy making things. Here’s a pictorial rundown of what I have made since November. And I have already started another pair for a friend. Here’s the first sock. I’m already 3.5 inches into the second sock now. I took a Mosaics class and made a few different projects for it. Last nigh...
