Quixotic Quest: the Musings of a Fellow Pilgrim: Breaking the Silence

http://quixoticquest.blogspot.com/2007/07/breaking-silence.html

Quixotic Quest: the Musings of a Fellow Pilgrim. Tuesday, July 31, 2007. I guess it has been a bit quiet here lately. Sorry about that. The end of the summer and the beginning of the new school year is rapidly approaching. I've decided that since summer is almost over, I need to start being a bit more productive. I have to really, since there are a couple of important things left on my summer to do list, and I don't want to start the academic year behind. Hopefully we can all get things rolling again.

Quixotic Quest: the Musings of a Fellow Pilgrim: Penguins and Golden Calves

http://quixoticquest.blogspot.com/2008/03/penguins-and-golden-calves.html

Quixotic Quest: the Musings of a Fellow Pilgrim. Saturday, March 15, 2008. Penguins and Golden Calves. The title to this post is also the title of a book I cam currently reading. It was written by Madeline L'Engle and is rooted in a trip to Antarctica that she took in 1992 (at the age of seventy-four). She is probably best known for new Newbery award winning children's book A Wrinkle in Time. I really like the thought that God can use the things of this world to break through and reveal some aspect of Hi...

Quixotic Quest: the Musings of a Fellow Pilgrim. Thursday, August 26, 2004. The First Weak of the Semester. Hello all of you faithful blog readers. Sorry for the dearth of posts lately. Hopefully as the semester progresses I'll get in to a more consistent schedule, which will help me to post at more or less regular intervals. All in all it was a good birthday. I'd better sign off - my friend Chuck and I were supposed to go to dinner 10 minutes ago, and I think he is ready to gnaw my right arm off. Well, ...

Quixotic Quest: the Musings of a Fellow Pilgrim. Friday, May 20, 2005. Anyhow, am going to try and be better about updating this throughout the summer, but that comes with one proviso - you guys need to let me know if you are still reading this blog. If no-one is going to read what I write, I have much better ways of spending my time and energy. I'll leave you with a quote from Sundar Singh - A Christian Mystic from India:. Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE: May 2006

http://lincolnmathteacher.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE. Thursday, May 25, 2006. Two words for all of you- frickin', hot. But I figure I'll get used to it soon enough. I didn't know what day it was until I looked at the date/time on the menu bar of my computer which says Friday. I think it still feels like Thursday, but then I notice that the clock actually says 1:13. It totally does not feel that late, but I guess that's the time change. Posted by the jake at 10:14 PM. Saturday, May 20, 2006. Out that appears intriguing.

Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. First is the theory itself. Second is the fact that USA today considered it news. Actually, that second part isn't that amazing. Posted by the jake at 5:59 PM. Monday, August 28, 2006. Not for the faint of heart. I ran across about the kind of puppies that aren't much fun. Not that I agree with the idea, but it is an interesting social experiment. The 50 cent chick scares me. Posted by the jake at 3:31 PM. Friday, August 25, 2006. Poll Quest...

http://lincolnmathteacher.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE. Sunday, June 18, 2006. In case you were wondering, the past week or two of my life has consisted of:. Bible study in Acts- sweetness. Planning a men's weekend retreat, content and all (June 23-24). Prepping for a workshop on Scripture, specifically on Bible study (June 29). Brainstorming for a message on Power Through Prayer (July 2). Prepping to go to Mexico (July 8-17). And CS. Lewis' Letters to Malcolm. A little something called "Swashbuckler". But I really can't ...

Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE. Thursday, March 30, 2006. I think Blogger messed this up. I am able to post on Jakes blog. I wish I could think of something embarassing to write. Oh wait. I have one: Tyler licked Jake on the face tonight. And Jake liked it! I don't know if having somebody else posting on my blog is a good idea. As a correction, no one was actually licked. I (Jake) was in the process of licking Tyler as a method of self-defense. Posted by the jake at 11:04 PM. This is America, I thi...

http://lincolnmathteacher.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html

Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE. Tuesday, January 24, 2006. So I was in O town twice last weekend. On Saturday, I went up with some people to visit some other people. And present one of those people with a two-foot diameter rubber ball with Batman on it. And we ended up playing four-square in his driveway for almost an hour. I hope I never grow too far out of childhood. Posted by the jake at 4:53 PM. Thursday, January 12, 2006. Good Day for News from the State Legislature. At least this guy loves 'em.

http://lincolnmathteacher.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Woo-hoo. Gas prices go up. And the only reason why this is the case is, of course, President Bush. BTW, if you don't know me, read thick, dripping sarcasm into that last sentence.). Chalking that up to good old-fashioned Bush-hatred, what I really. Even assuming that prices don't go up drastically, I'm still going to end up paying just as much. Unless the windfall profit tax that goes to the government somehow gets funneled back to me in ...

Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE. Thursday, September 28, 2006. I can't believe myself sometimes. It's been like two full weeks already and I haven't even posted a picture of my hairy little niece, Isabel Mary-Alice Hoyt. And from what I hear, she's even cuter in person. Alas, it'll be the end of October or beginning of November before I see the little bugger. Probably for the best- I don't want to start scaring her too. Posted by the jake at 4:36 PM. Teachin' Math in Good Ol' Lincoln NE. Wednesday, July 26, 2006. As long as it's not illegal. Would sure be a little excitement in your day. Note the line where it says "while her. Colleagues ran away." If there are any guys that work there, I kind of feel sorry for them- running away while a woman "man-handles" (pun intended) this thing into submission. I just think that would be embarassing for them. Posted by the jake at 2:18 PM. Saturday, July 22, 2006. 2 My gastrointestinal workings are not quite rig...

Win against the windmills

Win against the windmills. 25 May 2008 03:03am. The Eritreans are going to war with Djibouti. My first, shameful reaction was that it was awfully cute of such small nations to go to war with each other, although I quickly realized that even small nations can inflict enormous miseries. Look at Rwanda. What are they fighting for? A David versus David battle is shaping up here, with two of Africa’s tiniest nations squaring off over a few piles of uninhabited sand.". I feel I must quote Shakespeare:. SUPPOSE...
