Aimless Ramblings of an Aimless Rambler: 01/01/2009 - 02/01/2009

SATURDAY IN THE HILLS. BATFINK MEETS HIS NEMESIS. Or more accurately, The 2009 AMCN Island Classic. Each Australia Day long weekend sees the Classic being run at the Phillip Island GP track. A tri-nations cup held over the 3 days between England, Australia and New Zealand. I'm sure all that is important to the blokes involved. But not to me. I just get to hear and see some of the most cherished bikes come out to do what they were built for. Tents, lilo's, sleeping bags, clothes. Well, they tell me that.

MotoGP 09 - The Awesoming. MotoGP '09 - The Awesoming. I am putting this together piece by piece, much the same way my memory is returning to me. Bear with me, Dear Reader, for this may end up with the continuity of Pulp Fiction. Through the week leading up to D Day there had been signs of the impending event. VicRoads had replaced their usual Carnage On The Roads billboards with motorcycle related signage, including the rather spectacular "Motorcycle Gloves Can Save Your Fingers". And loaded up Motorhead.

Aimless Ramblings of an Aimless Rambler: CLIMBING OUT OF THE HOLE
http://leanitover.blogspot.com/2011/01/climbing-out-of-hole.html
CLIMBING OUT OF THE HOLE. CLIMBING OUT OF THE HOLE. Late April 2010, I think. That sounds about right. The crash was in early May and I haven't ridden since. Not that I haven't wanted to, it's just that the shoulder hasn't been up to it and I don't have a bike on the road now. It's been a bitch of a slog to tell the truth. A long clean ride through the hills has always been my way to clear the head of the stresses we all suffer. I'm sure you, dear reader, will understand. For the spectators anyway. He to...

3 States, 2 Days, 1 Bike. 3 States, 2 Days, 1 Bike. Forgive me, Fathers, it's been a while since my last ride. The main problem is not having a bike on the road. It can hold you back, you know? This was remedied by a very good mate leaving his FJR1300 down here while he went back to Queensland for a while. I promised to rotate his tyres regularly for him. So we end up with the June long weekend coming fast. I sat back on the Friday night and googled somewhere to head. Well, it would be later on any way.

Aimless Ramblings of an Aimless Rambler: Khancoban Motorcycle Festival 2012
http://leanitover.blogspot.com/2012/04/khancoban-motorcycle-festival-2012.html
Khancoban Motorcycle Festival 2012. Khancoban Motorcycle Festival 2012. Last weekend saw the inaugural Khancoban Motorcycle Festival as put together by Buckets under the guise of the NSW Motorcycle Alliance. It also saw some of Victoria's worst flooding in insert stupidly long amount of years here. Perfect weekend to head to the Snowies then. Thommo and I left after work on Friday with a plan to get to Mansfield for the night. Gunna put the wets on, ya reckon? Still, how bad could it get? Yea it was then.

LUNCH WITH BORRIE - THE LONG WAY. LUNCH WITH BORRIE - THE LONG WAY. As some of you may have noticed, I was in Sin City over the weekend. It came about with me wanting to go for a ride. Simple enough plan, you say. That may be the case for you single, Life-Of-Reilly types. But for little old me it means a bucketload of logistics and planning. First was waiting for the ex to recover from whatever is ailing her this week so she could take the kids again. OK, have fun". I set off at about 7am on Thursday mor...

POLISHING UP A FAT GIRL. POLISHING UP A FAT GIRL. Around June, I think, I got hold of a sweet old GSX750E. Everything on it is bog stock, except for the 4 into 1 and O'Brien can. I haven't been able to do much due to a slowly mending broken collar bone. But now I have enough movement and strength to start. I've had a bit of a tinker and done some scrubbing. The bodywork, which was fine except for the hazing and crackly tank, now looks like this. The sizal wheels and compound await. The bin in my shed has...

Herbert Knight. My Grandfathers Story. Herbert Knight. My Grandfather's Story. This story is part of the life of Herbert Knight as he told of his younger days and the struggle it was to survive. It was very upsetting for him to tell of his younger days and his cruel Father. His words were –. I couldn’t possibly tell you all the things that happened. Like the time my Father held his gun at my head and to this day I don’t know why he didn’t pull the trigger. On the move again, this time to Preolenna and th...
