Race for CHASE: 3 days to go....
http://raceforchase-iain.blogspot.com/2008/06/3-days-to-go.html
The Race for CHASE is a bicycle challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats in 5 days to raise money for CHASE childrens hospice. Wednesday, June 25, 2008. 3 days to go. Since Sunday I've been thinking every few hours "where will I be this time next week", and then trying to estimate how far up the country I will have got! Funny thing is, when I woke up this morning, I thought "where have I got to cycle to today? And then pretty much straight away thought "oh no, I don't want to get on my bike again"!

Race for CHASE: April 2008

The Race for CHASE is a bicycle challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats in 5 days to raise money for CHASE childrens hospice. Monday, April 28, 2008. Having conquered Shap, I was inspired to do some more hills. So I set out for another 50 mile trek across the hills near my home. I actually ended up doing more ascent and descent than I had in the Lake District, but the hills were much smaller! Sunday, April 27, 2008. What I hadn't really thought through was that I had to go over Kirkstone pass to get f...

http://raceforchase-iain.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
The Race for CHASE is a bicycle challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats in 5 days to raise money for CHASE childrens hospice. Saturday, March 29, 2008. Paul, Ciaran and myself set off early this morning for a ride. Ciaran only wanted to be out for a little while as he feels a cold coming on. Paul and I were keen to do 100 miles again. Anyhow, we ended up doing approx 100 miles (actually 97), having done Ranmore Common and Leith Hill twice plus Boxhill; that's over 2.5 km of ascent in total! Alarm went...

Race for CHASE: No more alcohol
http://raceforchase-iain.blogspot.com/2008/06/no-more-alcohol.html
The Race for CHASE is a bicycle challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats in 5 days to raise money for CHASE childrens hospice. Saturday, June 7, 2008. On Thursday night we had a work function, and I decided it would be nice to have a few beers. BIG MISTAKE! I didn't have loads of beer; probably 4 pints of Guinness. I got home in relatively good time, slept well, and didn't feel too bad the next day. Little did I know I was going to regret drinking that much on my next ride. After 15 minutes or so, a sh...

http://raceforchase-iain.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
The Race for CHASE is a bicycle challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats in 5 days to raise money for CHASE childrens hospice. Monday, December 31, 2007. My first ride alone. New Years Eve, and I figure I should get out on my bike. I decide to try the same route as we did for the kickoff meeting. 22 miles later, and I'm feeling quite pleased with myself. My average speed is up, my average heart rate is much the same and my cadence is up. Sunday, December 30, 2007. The website is live! Today a group of ...

Race for CHASE: Quick fifty
http://raceforchase-iain.blogspot.com/2008/06/quick-fifty.html
The Race for CHASE is a bicycle challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats in 5 days to raise money for CHASE childrens hospice. Sunday, June 8, 2008. The plan yesterday had been to leave around the same time as we will be leaving on the ride itself, and to do approx half-distance by lunchtime. Hence we were very pleased to do 111 miles and still be back in time for lunch. I opted for the early start so Jules and I could have the rest of the day enjoying the fastastic weather we're having. Still; a good ...

Soanother one of those days of rest. Sunday, January 27, 2008. It's light at 07:30 now. Simon and I set out around 07:45 to meet Rich in Windsor at 09:30. We get there in fairly good time, although we did a slight detour via Horsell which added a couple of miles. Tried my first energy bar. Quite tasty. Enjoyable ride....

Race for CHASE: Hilly Hundred
http://raceforchase-iain.blogspot.com/2008/06/hilly-hundred.html
The Race for CHASE is a bicycle challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats in 5 days to raise money for CHASE childrens hospice. Saturday, June 14, 2008. Skeptical, I set out alone for Windsor at 6am. It was the first time I'd cycled alone for a few weeks, and I found my mind wandering thinking about the race, thinking about Fraser (my Fraser, not Rich's friend.) and thinking how blummin cold it was. We set off back towards Guildford following the route I'd taken to get up there. By this time we'd done o...
