Fernleaf ~ Off the beaten track: February 2014
http://fernleaf67.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Friday, February 21, 2014. Insert catchy title here. In the past 2 weeks I have completed 4 different projects that I had plans to make, one knit and three crocheted. Which poked a small hole in my yarn stash. I have also cast-on for another sweater, which I bought yarn for last January and am very excited to make! So here's the latest batch of projects, sans the second bandana cowl that I made for myself. Mitts, Vancouver Fog.

Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Monday, July 13, 2015. Homestead report: May/June 2015. It's been a busy six weeks or so since the last update, summer is WELL underway thanks to a very dry spring. Fruits are ripening 4-5 weeks early in the whole region and things are looking bleak for the rest of the summer, with potential hay shortages looming along with the drought. Here's a quick photo montage of the last few weeks:. Sassy sitting on a nest of eggs. Sketch in w...

I just finished my latest knitting project, the Wayfarer Shawl. From a delightful book called Doomsday Knits. So excited, and so much work to do still! Speaking of excitement, we finally bought our ticket for the Mother Earth News Fair at the beginning of June! That's all for now! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Thursday, July 16, 2015. Garden update: July 2015. Yesterday was a great day for working in the garden, in the low 70's and cloudy with a light breeze it was a perfect day to finally get caught up on some weeding and path clearing that needed to be addressed out there, and I snapped a few updated pictures in between buckets of weeds. Monday, July 13, 2015. Homestead report: May/June 2015. It's been a busy six weeks or so since the l...

Fernleaf ~ Off the beaten track: January 2015

Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Black Cap: A quick, simple black wool beanie for my nephew-in-law? He loves hats, I hope that he loves this one too. No picture) This was a fun little project, a reminder of a great song for a lifelong friend. They Might be Giants has a song titled Birdhouse in Your Soul. Mammoth Mills Infinity Scarf. This scarf, although adorable, is one I probably won't make again (and being from the same book of pattern...

Fernleaf ~ Off the beaten track: What the future holds
http://fernleaf67.blogspot.com/2015/03/what-future-holds.html
Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Saturday, March 21, 2015. What the future holds. Well here we are and it's officially spring already. I'm not sure how that happened so fast. Despite being home taking care of Ethan and the animals I still find that time seems to be going by faster than when I was working part-to-full-time. Egads. The battle against the rats seems to have turned in our favor, some work around the barn, aggressive trapping and relentless hole-pluggin...

Fernleaf ~ Off the beaten track: July 2014
http://fernleaf67.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Tuesday, July 29, 2014. This project just seemed burdened with trouble after trouble for me, casting on the wrong number of stitches, wonky buttonholes, awkward color changes, a tight thumb gusset and other issues. I do think that they turned out nice, especially the lovely shell buttons I found for them, but after all the difficulties that I had with them I'll certainly never be using that pattern again. In the queue: Twin Leaf Loop.

Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Well my yarn finished up it's last stint in the freezer a week ago, but when I finally pulled it all out I wasn't excited about all the potential that yarn represented. We also discovered more beetles in a room that previously appeared to be beetle-free (and isolated.) Which means tomorrow I have to take a look at the raw wool from my sheep and get the washed stuff bagged up somehow to at least isolate t...

Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Saturday, May 24, 2014. Confessions of a yarn hoarder and fiber snob. So the LYS tour was last week.what's an LYS tour you ask? Thursday, May 22, 2014. But alas, even having four walls around them the rabbitry was far from complete, and due to my increasing difficulty in working with the homestead due to my growing belly plus the never-ending list of competing priorities present on any small far with a limited income and the rabbit ...

http://fernleaf67.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Fernleaf Off the beaten track. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog. Friday, May 15, 2015. Well our garden is well under way, which is a relief considering that we were able to get started over a month earlier than last year! We finished the last beds this week, and although we have everything more or less hashed out and 75% planted, things could always change for those last few areas, and not everything is rigidly planned.
