Monday, 4 January 2010. This latest work explores the subject of female identity within cultures. I have taken cast of faces to create a perfect likeness, then deconstructed and fragmented them through burning. Sunday, 7 March 2010. I am currently working on pieces for our graduation show in June 2010. My theme is the identity of the adolescent. I am interested in the transitional phase when the child is neither boy nor man. This is a time of striving towards an independance whilst dependancy is also strong. I am interested in the forming of a unique sub culture with its own symbolic style and etiquette. So to try and explore this through sculpture. tricky but watch this space for future photos.

Saturday, 13 February 2010. Close ups of female identity work. Close up of individual female faces used in female identity work. Each face was cast to re create a perfect likeness. It was then deconstructed and fragmented to explore the role of the female within contemporary culture. The faces were cast in clay which was then fired in an open wood fire. The meaning of materials was the main intention for this work, which includes the casting of seven boys from an original clay sculpture. Materials used were all "poor" elements such as dirt, ash,paper and wax,questioning the historical hierachy of fine art.
