abaluba: Valley Pics
http://patrickpharo.blogspot.com/2011/10/valley-pics.html
Monday, October 10, 2011. I'd like to post a few good pictures from the last week or so. Basically, we had a bit of a storm blow through Yosemite last week and shut things down for a while. In the interim, the crew, now swollen to include the Brothers Kauffman, drove down to Bishop in search of sun and boulders. We found some of the former, and lots of the latter. And now, more pics (most by Neil Kauffman of Planet Kauffman. Waiting out snow in between tries. Sunset at The Happy Boulders. The final headw...

abaluba: For the Birds
http://patrickpharo.blogspot.com/2012/02/for-birds.html
Monday, February 27, 2012. Just last week I was out there, though February certainly isn't prime time. At 7,000 feet, it's much more of a summer destination. These days, there is a fair bit of ice seeping from the walls. I went out to give a tour to RD Pascoe, the Policy Director at The Access Fund. Climbers (Maybe on The Bulge? Josh chasing the warm sunlight headed to The Edge. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Chris Brown's Exploits, Photos, Videos, etc. Diana Clock's Pro Photography. Onward to 28...

abaluba: The DragonChicken
http://patrickpharo.blogspot.com/2010/03/dragonchicken.html
Thursday, March 11, 2010. At one of these brief bouts with consciousness, I recognize the siren call of space - a bit of breathing room. She had backed off for a moment, likely to stretch her legs and prepare my demise. What sweet call for domestication would she use as a ploy for my evisceration? I settle back into wary sleep. Here she comes, pissed off, all claws and fangs. Thank God I'm wearing my hockey gloves. How'd those get there? Who cares, man! It's a public execution, and I'm here in my best wo...

abaluba: The Salathe Wall
http://patrickpharo.blogspot.com/2010/06/salathe-wall.html
Friday, June 25, 2010. Had we been able to see the entire Southwest face of El Capitan falling away below our feet, Josh or I might have passed out. The terror of hanging that far into space has surely reduced better men to tears. Instead, we crawled slowly and half blind to the promise of an uncomfortable bivouac on Long Ledge, managing the fatigue of our back-to-back 16-hour climbing days by taking small bites of dried mango. 8221; I wondered. Didn’t this asshole know how bummed out I was? Before we le...

abaluba: Images from Yosemite
http://patrickpharo.blogspot.com/2010/06/images-from-yosemite.html
Thursday, June 3, 2010. I've been able to take a few photos and shoot a couple of videos from these last few days in Yosemite. Today, we're resting, catching up on life outside The Ditch, and enjoying a leisurely, stunningly beautiful day in the shadow of El Cap, Half Dome, and The Sentinel. This is a magical place. The walls are big and intimidating, the climbing is hard, and the feeling of one's own insignificance is magnified by the thundering Yosemite Falls and a sea of golden granite. Love you, Mom.

abaluba: A very fine start
http://patrickpharo.blogspot.com/2011/09/very-fine-start.html
Thursday, September 29, 2011. A very fine start. You know how I can tell I'm in California? My back is killing me. The final day in the car apparently didn't sit too well, and I've been stretching and doing yoga like a madman to try to remedy this annoyance. It hasn't kept me from climbing and hiking around, but I'm beginning to take all that "30 and over the hill" talk as the truth. Damn it. Chilling under the Hulk. Josh eyes the raps. abaluba: Colorado Carp Habit and its export to the Farm
http://patrickpharo.blogspot.com/2012/05/colorado-carp-habit-and-its-export-to.html
Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Colorado Carp Habit and its export to the Farm. I feel a little naughty every time I do it. Lately, I’ve been throwing flies for carp. Big fuckers. The kind of fish that you see swimming around and wonder if it’s gonna jump out of the lake and bite you. One rammed into my foot after I spooked it, and I yelped like a little girl. When you hook into one, the reel screams like a hummingbird. We were all thrilled that he remained active and vital after her death. He took a road tr...

abaluba: Published
http://patrickpharo.blogspot.com/2011/11/published.html
Thursday, November 3, 2011. And then I came across this story:. Http:/ www.alpinist.com/doc/web11f/newswire-oops? Utm source=feedburner&utm medium=feed&utm campaign=Feed%3A alpinist%2FEFcn %28Alpinist Newswires%29. The sales pitch read. But my mind mistook the message, reading it for irony. Andrew Bisharat. Was telling me it was ok to accept the fact that I was looking at that cover, thinking of framing it on my wall, and It's a Big Deal. I published my first article. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
