Enjoy the Ride: Land Kayaking
http://bstratford.blogspot.com/2014/09/land-kayaking.html
Saturday, September 27, 2014. For our kayaking adventure we unloaded the trailers at a spot called Aamalga Harbor. Beautiful place. We donned our "splash skirts.". Sam and Annie helped fit the pedals inside the kayaks to the right length. Thus, "Land Kayaking.". After the fitting, the kayaks were hauled to the launching point. The dock was covered with the most interesting barnacles and shell creatures. Next: we actually make it into the water. :). September 27, 2014 at 5:41 AM. View my complete profile.

http://bstratford.blogspot.com/2014/09/gearing-up.html
Friday, September 26, 2014. Our first Alaska shore excursion was a kayak trip. We met our guides, Sam and Annie, (Salmon Annie), and loaded ourselves into a van that took us to their shop, a ways up the road from the port at Juneau. At the shop we all put on fashionable rubber boots. We signed our lives away,. And loaded up the kayaks. We were all pretty excited to get kayaking. Bruce did his requisite pose, and we were off on our adventure! September 26, 2014 at 5:41 AM. Those boots ARE uber fashionable!

Enjoy the Ride: August 2014

Friday, August 29, 2014. After towing the Jeep to Brian's front door, we stayed a few days to play. Brian and Lindsey were at work on Friday, so Bruce and I had some fun. We started at Sutter's Fort State Historic Park. It was the first settlement in Sacramento. They have nice folk there who do demonstrations and tell you about the park's history. And throw bean bags into wooden buckets. There were a lot of neat historic touches to take pictures of:. A neat place to visit! Wednesday, August 27, 2014.

Friday, June 20, 2014. And The Organ Was Played. You know that time you have to fill between the wedding and the wedding luncheon? Last week, we filled our across the street from the temple, at the Brigham Tabernacle. It's a great historic building. Walking in, we were asked by the missionary couple if anyone wanted to play the organ. I thought to myself, "When will I ever have this opportunity again? So, I played the organ. I played Abide With Me- the one where the darkness deepens. We all had a good ti...

Enjoy the Ride: November 2013
http://bstratford.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 30, 2013. Bruce's sister married a really great guy a bit ago:. He's a farmer and we all really like him. They were married on a cold Autumn day, but it was a fun family occasion and everyone was happy. Yes, he's wearing a kilt. It's kind of "the thing" in my SIL's family. There were lots of cute nieces and grand-nieces at the wedding. And the new Brigham City temple was beautiful. Their reception had an Autumn/Burlap theme. Really cute. We wish the best for the happy couple! In fact, ...

Friday, January 31, 2014. Did you know that Village Inn has unlimited fish and chips on Friday nights? Well, ours does anyway. It's one of Bruce's favorites, so at least one Friday a month you can find us down the street at VI. Eating fish. PS iPhones are great for spontaneous pictures! But you probably already knew that. Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Oreo Rice Krispy Treats. You can't beat a good Rice Krispy Treat, right? Well, you can make it even more yummy if you add chocolate and Oreos! Last night, a...

Tuesday, September 30, 2014. To continue our Alaskan kayaking adventure, we finally ventured out on to the waters of Eagle Bay. We were lucky that it was such a calm and warm day. Heading out to our destination, Scout Beach, we saw this to the right:. This to the left:. And this straight ahead. Paddling for all we were worth, after about 30 minutes, we made it to our destination, Scout Beach! Time for a rest and a snack! Saturday, September 27, 2014. We donned our "splash skirts.". Enjoy the Ride: October 2014
http://bstratford.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 2, 2014. The views from Scout Beach were amazing-. I got stuck like I do at any beach I go to, trying to catch a wave in my own way. After a rest and a snack we climbed back in the kayaks to make the trip back to the harbor. This is when the wildlife decide to show themselves. The only one I got a picture of was this bald eagle, which was appropriate, considering we were in Eagle Bay. Back at the harbor we had another bald eagle come in for a closer look. Enjoy the Ride: The Harbor In Juneau
http://bstratford.blogspot.com/2014/09/the-harbor-in-juneau.html
Thursday, September 25, 2014. The Harbor In Juneau. The first day of our cruise was spent at sea. In a fog bank. Sometimes we could glimpse land a long way off, but most of the time it was just fog and water. Our ship sounded it's fog horn, and that was pretty cool. On Monday morning, we pulled into the harbor in Juneau. Land! We were escorted in by the Coast Guard and their machine gun. Thick pine trees covered the hills and mountains around Juneau. Bruce was eying this fishing boat in the harbor.
