This tough guy was attempting to stand up on Lauren's bed, toppled off and banged his face on the bed frame! And just in time for all the Christmas pictures! There's No Place Like Home. Mike, Polly, Lauren, Joshua and Daniel. Saturday, March 5, 2011. Daniel was kept under anesthesia for 24 hours after his surgery. The reason for the continued anesthesia was to keep him from moving and prevent possible injuries to himself. They took him off the anesthesia on Thursday morning and told us that he may not open his eyes or be alert for another 24 hours. He actually opened his eyes around 2:00 that afternoon! It was a chilly day, but not too cold. It was nice to have so many of the relatives there. Servicemen played Taps, folded the flag and presented it to Grandma. We had the Easter bunny all to ourselves for about 5 minutes. Joshua wanted to keep smacking the bunny in the face and kept turning around when I took the picture. This was the first time since last Friday, February 25th. This was Daniel's first feeding in over a week. Of course, he was given nutrition through his IV's during the course of the week. There's No Place Like Home. Mike, Polly, Lauren, Joshua and Daniel. Sunday, February 27, 2011. Decided to join our family on Valentine's Day. He was born at 2:30 in the afternoon weighing in at 9 pounds 4 ounces and measuring 19 1/2 inches long. Was at home with Lauren and Joshua anticipating the news of Daniel's arrival. As soon as Daniel and mommy were moved to a recovery room, they came up to the hospital for a visit. Daniel was the center of attention - no surprise there! Our first family photo.

There's No Place Like Home. Mike, Polly, Lauren, Joshua and Daniel. Wednesday, March 2, 2011. We have learned that a lot of hospital time is spent waiting. The "hurry up and wait" syndrome as it has been called by a couple of RN's. We had hoped to talk to the cardiac surgeon on Sunday and that didn't happen. We expected to talk to the surgeon on Monday, but that didn't happen either. When Tuesday rolled around, we thought we might catch the surgeon in the morning and guess what? That didn't happen either.

There's No Place Like Home. Mike, Polly, Lauren, Joshua and Daniel. Monday, February 28, 2011. Daniel was released from the hospital the day after he was born. We were so excited to have him home. Joshua adores his baby brother and is so sweet and gentle with him. Lauren is always quietly and softly singing lullaby's to him. Got lots and lots of snuggle time with him before she left for home in Colorado. Daniel had jaundice, so Daddy helped him sunbathe for a while. February 28, 2011 at 11:19 PM.
