New Blog | Rachel Writes
https://rachelwrite.wordpress.com/2010/11/09/new-blog
Rachel Writes: sewing, photography and little essays. November 9, 2010. They say that when you start writing, you don’t really know what you’ll wind up writing about. I didn’t. After keeping this blog for more than six months, I started writing about photography. And it just felt right, in a way that writing about sewing and crafting never did. So I moved to a new blog name, Rachel Shoots. From → I Shoot Pentax. Larr; Pentax 18-55mm: Kit Lens Love. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
My Lens Menagerie: Part 1 | Rachel Writes
https://rachelwrite.wordpress.com/2010/10/21/my-lens-menagerie-part-1
Rachel Writes: sewing, photography and little essays. My Lens Menagerie: Part 1. October 21, 2010. Unsurprisingly, my first lens was an 18-55mm f kit lens. It’s fashionable to bash kit lenses, but I’ve been happy with mine. However, I quickly learned what it would do well snapshots in good light and what it wouldn’t: everything else. Indoors, my kits lens is pretty bad. I began to research prime lenses. At the time, the cheapest new prime lens Pentax sold was their SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4. Rounding out the pr...

Rachel Writes: sewing, photography and little essays. How did my garden grow? September 30, 2010. Summer is over. The tomato vines are withering, my flat boots are out of storage and I’m already dreading the day it’s too cold for Ike to play outside. So, how did my garden grow? Besides the onions, all the vegetables are from the garden. It was a great summer for tomatoes. Favorite pepper varieties: Godfather and Sweet Gypsy. Favorite tomato: Sungold. I also bought an heirloom tomato. Larr; Ike’s Be...

Rachel Writes: sewing, photography and little essays. August 27, 2010. Is that seriously how you spell “queue.” It looks so wrong I actually Googled it. Anyway, I decided to list the upcoming projects that I’m considering, if only to clear my mind. Here goes:. Finish the bookcase I’m making for Ike. Make a bookcase to replace the creaky IKEA bookcase in the basement, which I refer to as the leaning tower of bookcase. And it puts me to shame. Hang quilts in Ike’s room. 8221; in the hallway. August 20, 2010.

Rachel Writes: sewing, photography and little essays. Ike’s Bedroom: Green, Blue and Wild Animals. September 9, 2010. A few weeks ago I posted a long laundry list of tasks. That I wanted to complete. Well, I can check two of them off: finishing Ike’s bookshelf and hanging quilts in his room. For those of you who are new to the blog, Ike is my toddler son. Let’s take a look around his room. So, what exactly to we have here:. The dresser is from an unfinished furniture store; we finished it ourselves.

Gertie's New Blog for Better Sewing: Twirl! (First Draping Project)
http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/2010/06/twirl.html
Monday, June 28, 2010. Circle skirt horsehair braid. Windy day = AWESOME twirling. This is my very first pattern that I designed and draped myself. I've been studying draping with my fantastic teacher Sharon and have learned so much - and now I'm seeing the fruits of my labors! Since this was my first real draping project, I stuck with a simple 50s-inspired design: boatneck, French darts, low v-neck in the back, and a circle skirt. You can see how the horsehair braid shapes the hem here. The dress is lov...

Rachel Wrighter | Admittedly lost in a very big world
Admittedly lost in a very big world. I’m waking up to breathe in new life from this growing fire. Rachel's Report
Monday, August 03, 2015. Book Report #154 State of Wonder. You really can't get going on a Patchett novel without first clearing your schedule for a few days. I straight up ate this book, and sometimes I wasn't even sure if I liked it, but that was beside the point. The reviews all over it are tremendous. TL;DR - Best book ever written. But people should probably calm down a bit. It's pretty great but I still believe Bel Canto. I fell in love with the child Easter in this story. I came to love the ju...

Rachel Writer - strategic thinking, creative copywriting.
Strategic thinking, creative copywriting. When it’s done well, it always works. It builds and strengthens brands, drives sales and boosts profits. It pays for itself again and again. People learn about brands from many sources, and functional benefits aren’t the only things. That drive their purchase decisions. In the end, emotional benefits can be just as critical. The key: create that personal connection. Make your brand’s promise relevant to how they see themselves and how they live their lives.

Extracts of fiction by rachel stone. Thursday, December 19, 2002. Hi I'm Rachel and I'll be posting extracts from some gripping yarns. He swung round, his right hand outstretched towards the gas hob, flicking the know from simmer to high. The water began to play around her nostrils. A few strands of her auburn hair had found their way over the rim of the pot, caught on the flame and sizzled, adding their pungency to the stench already in the room. Posted by rachel at 6:14 AM.
