Research, teach. explore, create. December 6, 2008 by R Miller. We rode through seamless sand dunes in the hot Rajasthani sun, and it was absolutely beautiful. The city of Jaisalmer looks like a sandcastle that emerged from the earth. The carvings of the sandstone buildings are so deliciously intricate that you just want to eat the whole place up. The Jain Temple was one of the most impressive structures I have ever seen, and the sunsets from the fort are just spectacular. And of course, I’ve been ...

http://klbee.blogspot.com/2009/05/well-done.html
My life in Brooklyn and beyond. Wednesday, May 20, 2009. We had a great back yard birthday party for Ralph on Saturday. Here's a view from above the party. Ralphie took this from our fire escape. It turned out to be a lovely afternoon. Lots of good food, good drinks and good friends, which is, in my opinion, the perfect equation for a good birthday! We'll do more back yard parties soon, for sure. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Silver Sands of St. Augustine. A few of my days.
Texture Treasures: Some more inspiration from the villages of India
http://texturetreasures.blogspot.com/2008/09/i-go-to-villages-in-india-at-least-once.html
All things tactile and colourful. Sep 9, 2008. Some more inspiration from the villages of India. I love the way indegenous materials are used to build here. Indegenous building technology is one of the many things that we are rapidly losing in India right now. How does one sustain certain cultural practices? The dichotomy of so called progress vs traditional/cultural practices is always a point of debate. The spirit with which these women work and live always amazes me. I feel humbled and learn a lot...

My life in Brooklyn and beyond. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Is it wrong of me to hope that this Holland America Line cruise ship gets struck with the Norwak virus that was plaguing so many others in the last few years? Actually, I'm proud of you for not wishing a worse fate on that boat. I know, nice restraint, right? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Silver Sands of St. Augustine. My life in Brooklyn and beyond. Monday, June 15, 2009. Things to do in NYC. There is talk in my household about leaving New York some day, possibly sooner than later. That plus the hectic schedule that summer always imposes on us has made me want to make a list of things I have to do in NYC this summer! Either before it gets cold again, or before the city is a plane ride away. 1 Visit the High Line. 2 Times Square Pedestrian Area. And River to River Festival. Other than that, boat rides, walks, taking ph...

My life in Brooklyn and beyond. Saturday, May 23, 2009. We went to the Brooklyn Food Conference. A few weeks ago after returning from Oakland where everyone had a beautiful garden, so we were inspired and started learning all we could about putting in an urban garden. We'll see how it goes. I ordered seeds from the Hudson Valley Seed Library. Which does mostly heirloom seeds and then went to a couple of organic gardening classes. That were free in the East Village at this community garden. Super importan...
