Posted January 26, 2009. I should probably just ask my parents, but it has been easier to excavate mutilated half-memories of childhood explanations. So far, I have two. My earliest thought about “Lewis” was, I think, that I was named for a childhood friend, Jordy Lewis. (He would probably prefer to be called Jordan now.) This made sense to me because he was the only person I knew who was also called Lewis. This impression stayed with me until I forgot about it.

Pho on the Ave. Posted January 18, 2009. The broth here is of a different sort. It’s darker in color and tastes a bit more roasted and salty (in a pleasant way). It almost reminds me of Worcestershire sauce. (Advertises “No MSG”. Perhaps this accounts for some of the difference in broth.) This place is worth a try, even if only to experience the atypical broth flavor. The mushrooms here were clearly of subpar quality. Still enjoyable as mushrooms but neither flavorful nor creamy.
