Finding Gemstones: August 2010
http://findinggemstones.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 21, 2010. This Is How We Do It. Now, I'm not going to sing Montel. Jordan to Lydia right before bed (I'm kinda buzzed and it's all because this is how we do it might not be the most appropriate lyric to sing to a four year old), so I have to dig into the more lullabaic. Songs Lydia remembers when I've sung her something before, so this is becoming a very challenging evening affair. How did all of these songs get embedded into my head? How many truths of God are written on your heart?

Finding Gemstones: Lettuce Encouragement
http://findinggemstones.blogspot.com/2010/10/lettuce-encouragement.html
Wednesday, October 20, 2010. These verses prompt us to do a whole bunch with lettuce. LETTUCE draw near to God. LETTUCE hold unswervingly to the hope we profess. LETTUCE consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. LETTUCE not give up meeting together. LETTUCE encourage one another. Like I said, lettuce is a really, really important vegetable. Oh, look at that… lunch time! April 8, 2011 at 4:16 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Far More Than Rubies. Far more than rubies.

Finding Gemstones: June 2011
http://findinggemstones.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 24, 2011. Mamas and Daddies, Don't Drive Your Kids Crazy. I don't think we're alone in our strife; there's a new book out for adults right now, written in the spirit of bedtime stories, called,. Go the %$#@ to Sleep,. The "Battle at Bedtime" boils down to one thing: thy will be done vs. my will be done. I want you to go to sleep, and you want to stay up. One of us is going to lose, and it isn't going to be me. Or "Can I put on this dress? Why are we asking for obedience? Honestly, it's easie...

Finding Gemstones: February 2010
http://findinggemstones.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 18, 2010. Shechem and the Boys. Remind me of that and help me to imagine life with Jacob's family. On the other hand, sometimes, when I read books like this, I need to be careful that I don't take that person's particular perspective as "the way it was" - this is one person's interpretation which is influenced by her research, experience, and imagination. PLOT RUINER COMING UP: If you haven't read the book, you probably don't want to read any further yet-. I did a search on this and fo...

Finding Gemstones: Beyond a Reasonable Doubt
http://findinggemstones.blogspot.com/2011/07/beyond-reasonable-doubt.html
Thursday, July 14, 2011. Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. 8220;Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me! Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt? I can imagine Peter staring out across the water at Jesus. A reasoning human being would argue the laws of physics. Of course Peter doubted! Far More Than Rub...

Finding Gemstones: The Red Tent: Jacob and His Wives
http://findinggemstones.blogspot.com/2010/02/red-tent-jacob-and-his-wives.html
Wednesday, February 10, 2010. The Red Tent: Jacob and His Wives. I was fascinated by the way that Anita Diamant describes the relationship between Jacob, Leah, and Rachel. It was entirely unlike what I'd imagined taking place between them, so I'm looking forward to discussing your reactions to Diamant's account. These few verses in Scripture have always puzzled me - really, Jacob didn't know that it wasn't Rachel in his tent? 8220;When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved,. I want to feel his kiss. I am ...

Finding Gemstones: December 2009
http://findinggemstones.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 11, 2009. This baking is taking. The fruit of some body. And mixing it with the fruit. Of the earth, birthing. Harmony in each small cookie,. Mary’s sowing, reaping, crushing, sifting,. The cow with milk to give, hen with eggs to fold in,. Substance of life and life-giving blending. Isn’t this season about celebrating. The melding of spirit. Our miracles blossom from trauma. And this baking is beating. Dough in heaping spoonfuls,. Elements indivisible – egg and sugar,. Of peace on Earth.

Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Tackling Fear and Discouragement. 8220;Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9). 8220;He said: "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem!
