このFRG-7、入手当初から気になっていたのが操作が不快になるほどのスローリリースのAGCである。本来AMラジオなので平均値型AGCが良いのだが、. オマケでSSBがついているがためにピーク型AGCとなっている、それもとても遅い。オマケに合わせた本末転倒仕様だが、SSBを付けたい営業的要求とコストの兼ね合いから仕方のないところだったのだろうか。いまさらAM専用の平均値型AGCを付け足す気はないが、いい機会なので、せめて、ファーストリリースとしたい。これなら簡単にできそう。 AGC検波回路。検波ダイオードのアノードには復調直前の第三IFが入っている。また、効き始めを決める0.3Vのバイアスがかかっている。コレクタがAGC電圧で、エミッタはSメータに行っている。大まかには、VR401が100オームとして、リリース時定数が500msオーダーでのピークAGCディテクタになっている。同じく、リリース応答。だいたい800msくらいかかっている。やはり、ここまで遅いとさすがに頭にくる。 This is the timing capacitor, C426 (47uF).
